Position Overview The Assistant Manager – UK Accounts oversees the delivery of UK statutory accounts, VAT and payroll reconciliations, corporation tax workings, and year ‑ end financial reports for UK clients. The role is responsible for managing a team of UK accounting professionals, ensuring high-quality deliverables, handling escalations, improving processes, and supporting client relationships. This position requires deep expertise in UK accounting standards (FRS 102 Section 1A, FRS 105), strong leadership skills, and the ability to independently manage complex client portfolios. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Team Management & Leadership Lead a team of Senior Executives and Executives handling UK statutory accounting work. Plan, allocate , and monitor workloads to ensure optimal productivity and utilization . Review team outputs including financial statements, VAT workings, payroll reconciliations, and corporation tax computations. Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching, and 1:1 sessions to support team development. Drive engagement, monitor morale, and manage attrition reduction initiatives. UK Financial Statements & Technical Review Oversee the preparation and finalization of Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, and supporting schedules. Review financial statements for compliance with FRS 102 Section 1A, FRS 105, and Companies House requirements. Review year ‑ end working papers including: control accounts debtors/creditors reconciliations accruals & prepayments bank reconciliations Conduct P& L variance analysis and identify unusual transactions or inconsistencies. Provide technical support and resolve accounting issues escalated by the team. VAT, Payroll & Corporation Tax Oversight Review VAT reconciliations, VAT return workings, and compliance with standard UK VAT schemes. Oversee payroll summary reviews and payroll-related control account reconciliation. Review corporation tax workings including allowable/disallowable expenses and adjustments relevant for CT600. Client Management & Escalation Handling Act as the primary escalation point for UK clients across all assigned portfolios. Handle operational and technical escalations with a structured root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action plan. Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and timely updates. Ensure the team consistently meets turnaround time (TAT) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Conduct periodic client review calls and support relationship building with onshore teams. Quality Control & Process Improvement Ensure that all deliverables meet firm quality standards and UK compliance requirements. Conduct review checkpoints and quality checks before submission to UK onshore teams. Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Implement standard operating procedures and documentation best practices. Support automation, standardisation , and workflow optimisation within the team. Training, Development & Knowledge Management Conduct technical training sessions on FRS standards, VAT rules, CT basics, reconciliations, and UK accounting processes. Support onboarding and structured training for new joiners. Maintain training materials, process notes, and knowledge repositories. Promote cross-training within the team to enhance capability and reduce dependency risks. Key Success Measures Client – Client Satisfaction, Associate Retention and Attraction Financial – Reduced cost-to-serve/optimization, Profitability improvement Operational – Defined Structure, Improved Employee Value Proposition People – Higher associate engagement, lower attrition Education, Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Commerce , Accounting, or Finance 7 + Years of Experience Experience in UK accounting/outsourced accounting roles preferred Knowledge of UK tax and statutory compliance is an added advantage Software knowledge of QuickBooks/XERO/Surf/ Taxcalc /IRIS/CCH/ Digita etc. Strong knowledge of UK accounting concepts (FRS 102 1A, FRS 105) Proficiency in VAT, payroll reconciliation, and corporation tax basics Prior experience leading a team or working in a TL/Assistant Manager role is preferred Strong analytical and reconciliation skills Excellent communication skills for daily client interaction Ability to manage deadlines and deliver high-quality work consistently Proficient in accounting software and MS Exce l (Shift Timings) 12:30 PM IST – 10:00 PM IST (Indian Summers) 01:30 PM IST – 11:00 PM IST (Indian Winters)
