Job Description Position: EDRC Head (Engineering, Design & Research Center) Company: KP Group Location: Surat, Gujarat Reporting To: Executive Director Experience Required: 25+ Years Role Overview The EDRC Head will be responsible for leading the Engineering, Design, and Research & Development functions across KP Group. This role will drive innovation, optimize engineering processes, ensure design excellence, and support business growth through advanced technical solutions in renewable energy, infrastructure, and industrial projects. The incumbent will play a critical role in shaping the company’s technical vision, enhancing design efficiency, and implementing cutting-edge technologies to strengthen project execution capabilities. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic Leadership Define and drive the long-term vision for Engineering, Design, and R&D functions. Align engineering strategies with overall business objectives and growth plans. Lead innovation initiatives to enhance competitiveness and technical capabilities. 2. Engineering & Design Management Oversee end-to-end engineering and design activities for all projects. Ensure accuracy, optimization, and standardization of designs across projects. Drive adoption of best practices, codes, and industry standards. Implement value engineering and design optimization techniques. 3. Research & Development (R&D) Establish and lead R&D initiatives in renewable energy/solar, infrastructure, and emerging technologies. Identify opportunities for product development, efficiency improvement, and cost reduction. Collaborate with external agencies, technology partners, and research institutions. 4. Project Support & Execution Excellence Provide technical leadership and support to project execution teams. Ensure timely delivery of engineering outputs aligned with project timelines. Resolve complex technical challenges during project life cycles. 5. Technology & Innovation Drive digital transformation (BIM, AI-based design tools, automation, etc.). Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve productivity and quality. Promote a culture of innovation within engineering teams. 6. Team Leadership & Capability Building Build, mentor, and lead high-performing multidisciplinary engineering teams. Develop technical expertise and leadership pipeline within the department. Ensure continuous learning and skill enhancement. 7. Quality, Compliance & Governance Ensure adherence to quality standards, safety norms, and regulatory requirements. Establish robust review and audit mechanisms for engineering deliverables. Maintain documentation, processes, and design control systems. 8. Stakeholder Management Collaborate with business heads, project teams, and leadership. Engage with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities on technical matters. Represent the company in technical discussions and forums. Key Requirements Education Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil or relevant discipline). Advanced qualifications ( / MBA) preferred. Experience 25+ years of experience in engineering, design, and R&D roles. Significant experience in EPC, renewable energy (solar/wind), infrastructure, or industrial sectors. Proven leadership experience in handling large engineering teams and multi-project environments.
