About The Role

As a Principal EC&I Engineer , you’ll play a key role in delivering some of our most exciting and complex projects. You’ll provide technical leadership across Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) disciplines, supporting a diverse portfolio of high-impact programmes. πŸ”‘ Key Responsibilities πŸ”Ή Technical Leadership 🧠 Lead EC&I engineering delivery for complex systems and projects πŸ—οΈ Act as Lead Engineer on large-scale projects and support project planning πŸ” Chair design reviews and lead technical discussions πŸ“Š Prepare and present technical reports and presentations πŸ”Ή Project Delivery & Governance βš™οΈ Ensure compliance with standards such as BS7671, IEC 61508, CDM Regulations & Machinery Directive πŸ›‘οΈ Prioritise and enforce Health, Safety & Environmental requirements πŸ“ˆ Support project cost, schedule, and quality delivery πŸ“ Contribute to tenders, including technical and risk assessments πŸ”Ή Team Leadership & Development πŸ‘₯ Lead, mentor, and supervise engineering teams 🎯 Set objectives, monitor performance, and provide constructive feedback 🀝 Support collaboration across disciplines and stakeholders 🌱 Guide and develop junior engineers πŸ”Ή Client & Stakeholder Engagement πŸ”— Act as the technical interface between clients and internal teams πŸ’¬ Support design reviews and resolve technical queries πŸ“’ Represent the business in technical communications πŸ”Ή Continuous Improvement πŸ”„ Drive process improvements and efficiency initiatives πŸ“š Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry best practices 🧩 Contribute to QMS procedures and compliance

Essential Requirements πŸŽ“ Qualifications Degree in Electrical, Control, or Instrumentation Engineering (or HNC/HND with significant experience) πŸ“˜ Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) πŸ… Membership with the IET (or working toward Chartered status) πŸ› οΈ Experience ⏳ 10+ years in EC&I engineering within regulated industries πŸ”Œ Strong expertise across EC&I disciplines, with specialism in at least two areas πŸ”„ Experience across full project lifecycle phases πŸ“ Knowledge of control systems design (V-cycle, verification & validation) πŸ—‚οΈ Experience with configuration and documentation management 🀝 Proven collaboration with project management teams ⭐ Desirable Skills 🌐 Experience in nuclear or high-hazard industries πŸ›‘οΈ Knowledge of Safety Instrumented Systems & functional safety standards πŸ“œ Familiarity with ONR Licence Conditions πŸ—οΈ Experience with BIM-enabled projects ⚑ Electrical design, calculations & EMC assessment knowledge πŸ’» Software, hardware, or embedded control systems experience πŸ”¬ Understanding of HAZOP, HAZID, FMECA processes πŸ”„ Experience with obsolescence management
