About The Role

" POSITION SUMMARY The Monitor Technician provides support to the patient care delivery team by observing the heart rhythms of patients who are receiving cardiac monitoring. The Monitor Technician is responsible for maintaining alarm parameters established by the physician and for notifying the Registered Nurse of critical changes in patient cardiac rhythms (as per telemetry communication protocol for Centralized Telemetry). This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of dysrhythmia recognition course required within 30 days of hire. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: AHA BLS certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer. EXPERIENCE: Cardiac monitor technician experience required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Demonstrates the competencies as established on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool for this position. WORK ENVIRONMENT Potential for exposure to blood borne pathogens along with infectious diseases. The position requires considerable standing, reaching and walking. Requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds. The essential functions for this position are listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
