Staff Software Engineer (NodeJS, Python, Go)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Software Engineer (NodeJS, Python, Go) based in India.
This role offers the opportunity to lead a high-impact engineering squad while remaining actively involved in software development. You will take end-to-end ownership of a product area, shaping its technical direction and driving delivery from roadmap to production. Working across frontend and backend architecture, you will build scalable product experiences for an AI-powered compliance platform. You will collaborate closely with Product and Design to turn complex compliance workflows into intuitive, effective solutions. Alongside hands-on engineering, you will mentor developers, strengthen engineering standards, and guide technical decisions. The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, with an emphasis on product ownership, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities

Lead an engineering squad and take ownership of delivery for a product area, from roadmap planning through execution.

Drive technical design across frontend and backend systems, making pragmatic architecture decisions that support product goals.

Remain hands-on in development and personally deliver critical components of the product.

Build and launch new product features and experiences end-to-end.

Improve engineering quality through code reviews, reusable patterns, testing practices, and development standards.

Mentor engineers through constructive feedback, technical guidance, and support for greater ownership.

Partner with Product and Design teams to simplify complex compliance workflows and create effective user experiences.

Improve system performance, reliability, observability, security, and cost efficiency.

Drive technical alignment and collaboration across engineering and product teams.

Maintain high engineering standards while enabling fast, effective delivery in a dynamic startup environment.

Requirements:

7+ years of experience building and shipping production software.

Strong full-stack engineering fundamentals, including APIs, data modeling, UI architecture, performance optimization, and debugging.

Proven ability to own projects from technical design through production delivery.

Experience making pragmatic technical trade-offs and navigating ambiguity.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build alignment across engineering and product stakeholders.

Experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, or managing engineering teams.

Solid understanding of software quality, testing, code reviews, and engineering best practices.

Nice to have: Experience with React and TypeScript.

Nice to have: Experience with Python frameworks such as Flask or FastAPI, and/or Node.js.

Nice to have: Strong SQL and PostgreSQL skills.

Nice to have: Experience in fintech, compliance, fraud prevention, risk management, workflow systems, or B2B SaaS.

Nice to have: Experience building internal tools for operations teams.

Ability to balance hands-on technical contribution with team leadership and product ownership.
