Civil Materials Laboratory Cadet - Rotorua
Looking for a career change where practical, hands-on experience counts? If you come from a trade, construction, labouring or another physically active work environment, this could be an opportunity to bring that practical mindset into a technical laboratory career.
Based in Rotorua, this role supports the testing of engineering materials in both laboratory and field environments. The work includes routine materials testing and site investigations, accurately documenting and reporting testing activities, and completing work safely, efficiently and to a high standard in line with laboratory quality requirements and relevant standards.
No previous laboratory experience is necessary. You'll work alongside laboratory colleagues and interact with clients, with travel required as needed.
About you:
- You may be ready to step away from a trade, construction, labouring or other physical role and build a new career that still makes good use of your practical approach to work.
- You're comfortable with hands-on tasks, working both indoors and out in the field, and taking a careful, safety-focused approach to getting the job done well.
- No previous laboratory experience is necessary, making this an opportunity to learn a new technical discipline.
- NCEA Level 3 Mathematics and English are required.
- You'll need a current, clean driver's licence.
- Due to the level of this role, we are only able to consider applicants who already hold New Zealand working rights.
