About Our Family
We are a busy, two-career household in Huntington Woods with two school-aged children and two cats. Both parents have demanding professional schedules that often extend into evenings and weekends, with regular travel as part of the mix. Between school, activities, meals, appointments, errands, and household responsibilities, we are looking for someone who can step into our family's rhythm and help keep daily life organized and running smoothly.
Our home has a warm, active energy, and there is almost always something happening on the calendar. We are looking for someone who can anticipate needs, take ownership of the details, and reduce the mental load of managing a busy household. Whether that means noticing groceries are running low, following up on a repair, or staying ahead of a school deadline, we value someone who can see what needs to happen and take the appropriate next step.
We value proactive thinking, flexibility, clear communication, strong judgment, and someone who genuinely enjoys being part of a busy family's daily life. Privacy and discretion are especially important due to the nature of one parent's professional role, so the right person will understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality and earning the family's trust.
Who You Are / What We're Looking For
You are the kind of person who notices what needs to happen before someone has to ask. You are highly organized without being rigid, warm without being overbearing, and steady even when a day does not go according to plan. You enjoy creating systems, solving problems, and bringing order to the logistics and details that allow a household to run smoothly.
You understand the importance of privacy and discretion and recognize the trust that comes with being welcomed into a family’s home. You are also tech-savvy, organized, and confident navigating household apps, shared calendars, school platforms such as Canvas, and managing subscriptions and accounts to keep the household running smoothly.
You communicate proactively and concisely. Whether that means sending a quick text during the afternoon or providing a simple end-of-day recap, your communication gives the family confidence that things have been handled without requiring constant oversight.
You genuinely enjoy being around kids and know how to connect with older children without being controlling or trying too hard. One of our kids benefits from additional support related to ADHD, executive functioning, and emotional regulation, so we are looking for someone who understands that context, does not take difficult moments personally, and can respond with patience, empathy, consistency, and emotional steadiness.
You are also comfortable taking initiative. If the family needs a household service, you can research options, make the call, coordinate the appointment, and follow through. If transportation plans change, you can figure out the next-best solution. If groceries are running low, you do not need someone to hand you a list before taking action.
