71001412 - Manager (Departmental Accounting)

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Manage, lead and control the accounting branch under the direction of the Corporate Executive Departmental Accounting.
• Manage and control the preparation of the annual, multi-year budgets and annual financial statements.
• Ensure financial discipline and accountability within the Directorate.
• Provide a financial advisory service to the relevant technical Directorate and subordinate staff.
• Examine all reports to be submitted to the committee prepared by the departments.
• Co-ordinate, monitor and examine all tariff reports.
• Co-ordinate and control the preparation of ad hoc financial and management accounting reports for the respective Heads and Deputy Heads of the various Output Units and the DCM Treasury.
• Co-ordinate monthly management control reports and attend to internal and external audit queries.
• Develop policies and assist in the strategic planning of the branch.
• Ensuring physical asset verifications.

Essential Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification (NQF Level 7) in Accounting or equivalent with Financial Accounting as a major subject.
• Must be in possession of National Treasury MFMA minimum competency qualification (NQF6) OR
Must obtain a National Treasury MFMA minimum competency qualification (NQF6) within 18 months of date of appointment.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license
• 5 years relevant experience of which 3 years must be at a supervisory level.
• Computer Literacy.

Preferred Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification (NQF Level 8) in Accounting or equivalent with Financial Accounting as a major subject.
• Must have professional registration of either CA (SA) CIMA ACCA CIGFARO.
• 6 years relevant experience of which 4 years must be at a supervisory level.
