Heavy Duty Equipment Technician

Join BA Blacktop Ltd., a leading road construction company, as a Heavy Duty Equipment Technician. In this role, you will perform repairs and preventive maintenance on various road construction equipment, diagnose mechanical issues, and propose improvements. You will work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision and may be required to work remotely in adverse weather conditions. The position is based in Port Kells, Surrey, BC, with a pay range of CA$48.09 - CA$53.09 per hour.

• Performing assemblies, preventative maintenance, repairs, and complete overhauls on heavy equipment.
• Diagnosing faults or malfunctions using computerized or other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
• Making recommendations regarding the extent of repairs and suggesting methods of improvement.

**Essential Qualifications**

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification
• Red Seal certificate is an asset
• 3+ years in a similar field in the repair or maintenance of heavy equipment
• Valid driving license
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Strong attention to detail
• Respect other team members
• Ability to work independently or in a team environment
• Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical drawings
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
• Demonstrate ability to prioritize and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment

**Desirable Qualifications**

• Welding certificate
• Construction equipment operating ticket

**Additional Comments on the Role**

• The opportunity to maintain and repair various brands and types of equipment will be provided by working at the shop.
• The fleet is constantly being renewed; therefore, the HET Technician must be able to adapt to new technologies.
• Field HET technicians are provided with a truck to perform the tasks.
• Field HET Technicians are regularly on call every night and on weekends to support operations.
