SENIOR OCCUPATIONAL HYGIENIST ROLE PROFILE GENERAL Date October 2026 Location Aggeneys, Northern Cape Operations VZI Projects Job Grade Paterson D2/M6 ROLE CONTEXT Vedanta Zinc International (VZI) operates two major mining complexes in the Northern Cape: VZI Projects – Ensure the work environment comply with all the relevant hygiene standards to minimize potential health risk to employees. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE Implementation and management of effective OH strategies and systems based on risk assessment outcome. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Responsible for leading and coordinating all Occupational Hygiene and emergency preparedness & response matters to ensure legal compliance including the compilation, implementation and maintenance of OH COP’s, risk assessments and related documents. 2. Manage OH measurement and monitoring strategies, investigations and the reporting there-off. 3. Report on the effectiveness of Emergency preparedness programs. 4. Completion and submission of statutory reports to the DMRE. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Qualifications · Degree in Environmental Health or Certificate in Mine Environmental Control issued by the Chamber of Mines of South Africa or equivalent. · Be certified as an Occupational Hygienist by the South African Institute for Occupational Hygienist (SAIOH) would be advantageous. Experience · Minimum 5 years’ experience in Occupational Hygiene in a mining environment. Minimum 2 years’ experience managing an Occupational Hygiene Department. · Be in possession of a Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) ticket will be advantageous. Technical Competence · Solid understanding of DMR requirements. Behavioural · Exceptional skill in people safety.
