Senior Accountant (Payments Accounting Projects)

Join <Booking.com> as a Senior Accountant for Payments Accounting Projects in Amsterdam. You will represent the Accounting function in the design, implementation, and launch of strategic business initiatives related to fund flow between customers and partners. Your primary focus will be supporting integrations with new payment service providers and improving existing payment flexibility options. You will work closely with other senior accountants and finance departments, and report to the Senior Controller.

• Lead the discovery, design, implementation, testing, and aftercare of new business initiatives from an accounting standpoint, with a focus on long-term scalability.
• Define and influence process flows and design that supports all Accounting requirements, proactively solving key accounting and implementation challenges.
• Act as a connected and influential business partner with internal and external stakeholders on projects with a cross-functional business impact.

• Flexibility and adaptability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Exposure to and certain understanding of US GAAP & month end close procedures
• Capable of working independently, as well as working in a team with ‘big picture view’
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• Excellent interpersonal communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong grasp of Accounting fundamentals
• Comfortable big data, fast pace, changing, dynamic and challenging environment
• Strong IT experience in financial systems, SAP S4 Hana preferred
• Experience working with Product, Data Analytics/Technical Accounting teams
• Experience working in Accounting projects and Project management is preferred
• Problem solving, solution-orientated, self-motivated and result-driven is essential
• Takes ownership for responsibilities with a positive, autonomous and inquiring attitude
• Ability to grasp technical design and simplify them into understandable concepts
• Proactive self-starter, resourceful with strong work ethic and willingness to grow
• Minimum 3-5 years of Accounting experience is preferred
