GES: Mining & Infrastructure - Fixed Term 12 Months ROLE PROFILE GENERAL Date December 2025 Location Aggeneys, Northern Cape Operations (Please indicate the operation – by ticking the appropriate box ) GB BMM Job Grade D2 (Paterson) / M6 (Vedanta) ROLE CONTEXT Vedanta Zinc International (VZI) operates two major mining complexes in the Northern Cape: Gamsberg – a large-scale open ‑ pit zinc operation requiring high ‑ precision drill & blast execution to achieve fragmentation, slope stability and production targets. Black Mountain Mine (BMM) – an underground operation where drill & blast quality directly influences development advance, stope performance, dilution control and safety. Within this environment, the GES: Mining & Infrastructure plays a key operational leadership role, ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of all surface and in ‑ pit infrastructure. The position also has direct accountability for the Pella Water Pipeline, a strategic water ‑ supply lifeline supporting the Gamsberg operation and requiring disciplined engineering management to ensure reliability, environmental compliance and operational continuity. PURPOSE OF THE ROLE To supervise, coordinate and execute maintenance and engineering activities for all mining and infrastructure systems, ensuring equipment and infrastructure are safe, reliable and compliant with regulatory, engineering and operational requirements. The role enables operational efficiency by: Leading maintenance teams across mining and infrastructure activities Ensuring safe operation of the Pella Water Pipeline Improving asset reliability, integrity and performance Supporting engineering planning, governance and risk management Ensuring maintenance work is executed safely, efficiently and to standard RESPONSIBILITIES I nfrastructure & Fixed Facilities Maintenance Execute maintenance plans for pipelines, pump stations, water networks, workshops, haul ‑ road services infrastructure and mining utilities. Conduct inspections, identify defects and ensure timely corrective maintenance. Maintain equipment availability to meet operational requirements. 2. Pella Water Pipeline Operations Full accountability for the operation, integrity and maintenance of the Pella Water Pipeline, including: Monitoring flow, pressure, pumping performance and telemetry systems. Managing leak response, emergency repairs, valve maintenance and pipeline integrity inspections. Supervising the pipeline maintenance team and coordinating contractor activities. Ensuring environmental compliance and safe water ‑ supply operations. Maintaining documentation, risk assessments, and operational readiness for water ‑ supply continuity. 3. Engineering Governance & Systems Compliance Apply engineering standards, procedures, specifications and critical controls. Maintain accurate engineering files, drawings, registers and SAP maintenance history. Support Management of Change (MOC), engineering assurance and readiness reviews. 4 . Reliability & Asset Care Apply RCM and reliability improvement practices to infrastructure assets. Conduct root ‑ cause analysis on recurring failures and implement preventative actions. Identify opportunities for optimisation of pumping systems, water distribution and infrastructure lifecycle management. 5 . Workforce & Business Partner Supervision Supervise artisans, foremen , servicemen and contractor teams on daily tasks. Ensure all work is executed safely and in alignment with work permits, SOPs and engineering standards. Conduct toolbox talks, task instructions, daily meetings and performance feedback. 6 . Maintenance Planning & Resource Coordination Assist with maintenance planning, job ‑ card preparation, shutdown readiness and materials requisitions. Track labour hours, materials usage and contractor costs to support budgets and work control systems. Ensure efficient utilisation of tools, equipment and workforce resources. 7 . Stakeholder & Operational Support Liaise with Mining Operations, Plant Operations, Water Services, HSE, Supply Chain and external service providers. Provide timely technical assistance during breakdowns, water supply interruptions or infrastructure challenges. Communicate risks, delays and engineering constraints to the Mine & Infrastructure Engineer. 8 . Safety, Risk & Regulatory Compliance Ensure all infrastructure and maintenance work complies with MHSA, VZI Zero Harm and engineering critical controls. Conduct VFLs, Gemba Walks and PTOs to verify safe work execution. Lead HIRA, IBRA and risk assessments for infrastructure projects, pipeline work and modifications. Maintain statutory inspection records, legal appointments and safety files. QUALIFICATIONS , EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Qualifications National Diploma or N6 in Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Trade Test or GCC exposure advantageous . Experience 5+ years engineering or maintenance experience in mining or heavy industrial environments. Experience supervising maintenance teams or contractors. Experience in water ‑ reticulation systems, pipelines, pumps or mechanical utilities is beneficial. Technical Competence Strong knowledge of pumping systems, water reticulation, pipelines, valves, and mechanical equipment. Maintenance planning and execution capability. Engineering drawing interpretation and technical documentation control. RCA, failure investigation and preventative maintenance methodology . Behavioural Strong leadership and organisational skills.
