Role: Software Test Engineer Location: IBC Knowledge Park, Bengaluru Reporting to: Lead - Software Testing Team name: Product Validation Group About the Team and the Role The Product Validation Group team at Ather is responsible for ensuring software quality all the way from vehicle to cloud by simulating user scenarios. This role is for a Software Test Engineer who will play a key role in validation, acting as the "first customer" to experience new features first-hand and provide constructive feedback to elevate our software quality. Responsibilities Perform manual, black-box, and white-box testing at both component and system levels on physical vehicles. Plan, prepare, and execute detailed test scenarios and test cases based on upcoming software change content. Perform end-to-end validation to ensure a high-quality customer experience from the vehicle to the mobile application. Collaborate closely with software development teams to understand feature details, prepare unique testing scenarios, and assist in root-causing bugs. Create, manage, and regularly update the regression test suite to ensure continuous software stability. Document, track, and update feature and bug statuses systematically in a timely manner. Own overall test planning, execution, and test documentation to drive high quality across releases. Experience and Qualifications Engineering degree in a relevant technical field (B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech). 2 to 5 years of professional experience in testing Android software applications and HMI (Human-Machine Interface). Previous experience in the automotive domain is preferred. Must Have Competencies Android Application and UI Testing: Testing Android-based applications, user interfaces, and human-machine interfaces to verify core and custom features. API Testing: Validating backend and integration APIs to ensure stable and correct communication between software services. Automotive Protocols: Validating vehicle communications using CAN (Controller Area Network) and UDS (Unified Diagnostic Services) protocols. Test Case Design and Documentation: Creating organized test cases, test planning layouts, and clear documentation to support collaborative quality engineering. Good to Have Competencies Automation Strategy: Identifying and implementing test automation opportunities within software components to scale validation. White-Box Testing: Utilizing white-box testing techniques to analyze software internals and code structures. Automotive Domain Knowledge: Understanding overall connected vehicle architectures and electric vehicle system behaviors. Defect Life Cycle Management: Utilizing software defect tracking systems to triage, document, and manage bugs from discovery to resolution. Want to know more?
