Contract Staff Software Engineer (FireFox Layout)

Join Mozilla as a Contract Staff Software Engineer focused on Firefox's Layout area. You will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and routine engineering work in CSS, page layout, APZ, text, and images. Working independently at a tech-lead level, you will keep the Layout code healthy, diagnose and fix Layout problems across platforms, and carry out code reviews. • Assumer la responsabilité de la maintenance quotidienne de la mise en page, de la correction des bogues et des régressions, et de la gestion des problèmes entrants.
• Diagnostiquer et résoudre les problèmes de mise en page sur plusieurs plateformes, y compris Windows, macOS, Linux et Android.
• Participer aux revues de code et à l'entretien de routine afin de permettre aux ingénieurs à temps plein de se concentrer sur d'autres projets critiques.

• A healthy Layout area, backlog and regressions kept down, with the team’s senior engineers freed to focus on critical Performance and Security issues
• Strong debugging and optimization in a multithreaded codebase
• Strong C++ (JavaScript and/or Rust a plus)
• Able to work independently and lead technically in a large, mature codebase
• Solid CSS and page-layout knowledge
• Prior experience in web browser architecture and development
• Prior Web standards experience
• Mobile web development, profiling and debugging skills a plus
• Proven experience in utilization of AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) in the investigation, development, debugging, and/or testing of code is a plus
