Senior Estimator, Major Projects

Join SB Canada as a Senior Estimator for our Major Projects group. You will lead tender pursuits, manage risk, and shape the commercial strategy. You will also support the construction and project delivery teams after project award. This role requires a seasoned estimator with technical depth and commercial judgment.

• Lead major project tender pursuits, managing the involvement of key internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage risk through the tendering process in a clear and methodical way, from identification through to pricing and mitigation.
• Prepare high-level summaries and presentations of tender pursuits for senior management review.

Qualifications – What Will Make You Successful

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience
10+ years of estimating or construction experience in deep foundations, ground improvement, excavation support, tunnelling, or geotechnical construction.
Proven track record leading large, complex tender pursuits from start to submission.
Experience with a range of delivery models, such as design-bid-build, design-build and progressive or collaborative contracts.
Experience in deep foundations, geotechnical or ground engineering works is a strong asset.

Soft Skills
Strong commercial judgment and a structured approach to risk.
Confident presenter able to summarize complex pursuits for senior leadership.
Skilled negotiator and relationship builder with clients, partners and subcontractors.
Organized and calm under tight tender deadlines.
Collaborative leader who brings engineering, operations and commercial teams together.

Preferred Skills
Bilingual in English and French.
Proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid or B2W, and takeoff tools such as Bluebeam.
Working knowledge of scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
Strong understanding of CCDC and other standard Canadian construction contracts.
Willingness to travel across Canada as required.

Required Designations or Certifications
None required. P.Eng., PQS or GSC designation is an asset.
