Senior Python Developer (Backend)

Join Protolabs Network as a Senior Python Developer (Backend) and play a crucial role in the Manufacturing Partner Marketplace. You will be responsible for the full order lifecycle, from matching orders to the right manufacturing partners to ensuring on-time delivery. You will lead the design and delivery of features, build APIs and backend systems, drive architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and improve the quality of our products. The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of experience in building web applications and backend services, strong proficiency in Python, and experience with relational databases and event-based architectures.

• Lead the design and delivery of features end to end, working cross-functionally with stakeholders to solve complex marketplace problems.
• Build APIs and backend systems that power the order lifecycle from supplier matching to delivery, driving architectural decisions and improving the technical foundations of the platform.
• Mentor engineers and raise the bar on engineering practices within the team, collaborating with the Backend guild to set standards and improve the state of backend systems.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skill
• 7+ years of experience building web applications and backend services
• Experience working in an agile team with product managers and designers
• Track record of leading technical projects and mentoring other engineers
• Experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL
• Strong proficiency in Python for designing, developing, testing and monitoring production systems
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD environments
• Experience with marketplace platforms or operational systems
• Deep understanding of event-based architectures
• Familiarity with Angular
