About The Role
Description
Job Purpose
- The Occupational Therapy Assistant at PARENTIS MEDICAL GROUP will support licensed occupational therapists in providing therapeutic services to individuals with physical, developmental, or emotional challenges. The role involves assisting in the implementation of treatment plans aimed at improving patients' quality of life and helping them achieve greater independence in their daily activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with occupational therapists to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
- Assist patients in performing therapeutic activities and exercises as prescribed by the occupational therapist.
- Monitor and document patients’ progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising therapist.
- Educate patients and their families on therapeutic techniques and activities that can be performed at home to enhance treatment outcomes.
- Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring that equipment and supplies are available and in good working condition.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of comprehensive care plans.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Support the occupational therapist in conducting assessments and evaluations of patients’ needs and progress.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in occupational therapy.
Qualifications
Required Education
- Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
Required Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in a clinical or healthcare setting.
- Experience in collaborating with occupational therapists to implement treatment plans and provide therapeutic interventions.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficient in assisting with the development and execution of individualized therapy programs for patients with physical, developmental, or emotional challenges.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ability to accurately document patient progress and maintain detailed records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt therapy interventions to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations.
- Knowledge of current occupational therapy practices, techniques, and equipment.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple patient cases and therapy schedules efficiently.
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care, ensuring a supportive and motivating environment for patients.
