Network Coordinator
Beyond100k · Remote, United States
About The Role
About the Organization - Beyond100K
To solve the world's most pressing problems, we need all of tomorrow's problem-solvers to be equipped with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) knowledge, skills, and inspiration. And tomorrow's problem-solvers need excellent STEM teachers today to guide them. In 2021, Beyond100K (formerly 100Kin10) successfully met its first 10-year goal by preparing more than 108,000 excellent STEM teachers for America's classrooms, surpassing the audacious goal set by President Obama a decade prior. To do this, we built a new type of networked-impact effort that rethinks how organizations collaborate, learn from one another, and together identify and tackle challenges that none could successfully address on its own. We achieved this goal in the midst of a growing national teacher shortage and a global pandemic, uniting over 300 leading agencies and organizations and 3,000 individuals across the country to tackle something seemingly intractable — ending the STEM teacher shortage, so that all kids could have access to a great STEM education and contribute their spark to a brighter future.
The Next Generation - To decide our next goal, we undertook a national, participatory listening process asking young people, primarily Black, Latinx, and Native American young people, to share their experience in PK-12 STEM education. More than 600 young people responded to our call. Their stories and the resulting goal positions us to decrease the STEM teacher shortage and center belonging, while focusing on the students, teachers, and schools that have been least well-served in STEM education. By 2032, our goal is to increase student and teacher belonging and to reduce the shortage by one-third, mobilizing a growing network to prepare 150,000 STEM teachers and retain 150,000 STEM teachers beginning with schools in Black, Latinx, and Native American communities — where the shortage has been the hardest to solve.
How we work - We pursue that goal through our whole network programming as well as our CoLabs: bounded communities of partners who go deep on our high-leverage challenges. Four CoLabs are underway: Classrooms of Belonging / AI, Foundational Math, Dream to Teach, and Teacher Work Environment, surrounded by whole-network programming that helps partners find one another, share what works, and carry it into the field while anchoring in our moonshot goal.
About the Role
We're seeking a resourceful, detail-oriented, and dedicated coordinator to run the systems that keep our network connected. The role has three parts: the data and engagement tracking that tells us who is participating in what, the communications that keep 250+ partner organizations connected to one another, and the mobilization campaigns that get them into the room. You will work with a wide range of stakeholders, including the Beyond100K Network of partners.
This is a systems-and-process role rather than a program facilitation role. If you get real satisfaction from a clean database, a campaign that goes out on time, communications that drive engagement, and a process that works the same way every month, this is your seat. Because most of our programs depend on this role’s systems upstream, you will have a comprehensive view of the entire network.
The Network Coordinator sits on the Community Management Team, within the Network Community pillar, and reports to the Associate Director, Network Development & Impact. Expected travel is 10% and includes biannual team retreats and select in-person partner convenings.
Your Responsibilities will Include
Data & Engagement Tracking
- Own data entry and hygiene in Salesforce CRM for engagement records and campaigns, so that what we hold about our partners is accurate and current.
- Maintain engagement tracking across major partner touchpoints and programs – who was invited, who showed up, who came back –so that the team can see how partners are moving through the network rather than guessing.
- Maintain the tracking systems behind our network impact campaigns including the Annual Data Count, Health of the Network, Partner Insights, and event registration with additional support during peak campaign windows.
- Produce routine engagement reports and pull the numbers teammates need, flagging what looks off rather than passing it along unexamined.
- Maintain and update our network contacts list.
Network Communications
- Own and manage the network communications calendar, scheduling what goes out to partners, when, and through which channel. You will coordinate across programs so that partners receive a coherent stream rather than competing asks.
- Produce and send regular network communications, including the weekly round-up, off-cycle announcements, and newsletter support, through Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
- Post network communications and network events to Circle, our network community platform, as appropriate, with the strategy and design of the space set by the Program Manager, Whole Network.
- Address or manage inquiries arriving at the [email hidden] account, routing them to the right owner and closing the loop.
Program Mobilization
- Manage program and event mobilization campaigns across the community management team, building and segmenting audiences, running the outreach sequence, and tracking response against participation targets.
- In collaboration with the community team, coordinate network programs and gatherings, including booking venues, registration, and communications.
- Report on how each campaign performed and what moved participation, so the next one is built on evidence.
Your Experience
- 2+ years of professional experience, ideally in communications, operations, or a role that combined the two. We care more about the shape of the work you have done than the sector you did it in, and we are glad to hear from candidates with unusual work histories.
- A communications background: you have drafted and sent content to external audiences (such as newsletters, announcements, and campaign emails), and you know how to write copy people actually read.
- An operations background: you have run recurring processes on a calendar, built or improved the systems behind them, and kept them running when several were live at once.
- Hands-on CRM experience. You have set up or worked in a CRM (Salesforce preferred), building lists and segments, entering and cleaning records, pulling reports, and you understand why this system matters rather than treating it as chore work.
Skills
- Detail-oriented and reliable: This is the first thing we are looking for. You have excellent organizational skills and love checking off your to-do list. You have strong follow-through and a high say-do ratio, and small errors bother you enough to catch them.
- Systems and Data Steward: You believe a well-maintained system is a form of care for the people who depend on it. You keep records clean, you notice when something is off, and you would rather fix the process than repeat the workaround.
- A Team Player: You like to roll up your sleeves and pitch in alongside others to reach a common goal. You also value strong relationships with your colleagues and prioritize building them as a part of your day-to-day life.
Mindsets
- Growth Mindset: The ability to identify new areas for learning; regularly create and take advantage of learning opportunities; use newly gained knowledge and skills on the job and learn through their application.
- Motivated: The drive to proactively take the initiative, identifying problems and opportunities across your portfolio, developing recommendations, and taking action on those recommendations.
- Adaptable: The ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment where you have autonomy to drive your work.
- Resourceful: You possess a positive attitude and take initiative to identify creative solutions to obstacles. You can juggle many important responsibilities at once and you're rigorous about prioritizing.
- Passion for Social Change: The drive and desire to contribute to making change in our society, in education and beyond, with interest in social change theories and putting those theories into practice.
- Racial Justice and DEI Commitment: The ability to lead in a way that is centered on racial justice and DEI.
