About The Role

Sales Engineers drive revenue. Every demo, discovery call, and RFP response you deliver has one purpose: to move a deal forward and win it.
As a Sales Engineer, you are the technical half of the sales team. You are measured on pipeline, win rate, and speed, not on how many demos you ran. You will work a high volume of opportunities, qualify them quickly, make a compelling technical case, and keep deals moving from first conversation to closed-won. When a deal needs deep architecture work, you bring in our Solution Engineering team. When it closes, you hand off a clean, well-documented win.
If you are energized by competing, closing, and being part of a team that wins, this is the role.
Key Responsibilities (Including but not limited to):
Drive Pipeline and Win Rate

  • Partner with Sales on qualification, helping prioritize opportunities with the best chance of closing and the highest revenue potential.
  • Run technical discovery that uncovers the client's real business drivers, buying criteria, and decision process, not just their technical stack.
  • Deliver demos and proofs of concept built around the client's business case and tied to the reasons they will buy.
  • Identify competitive threats and technical objections early, and arm Sales with the positioning to beat them.
  • Keep deals moving: respond fast, remove technical blockers, and help Sales shorten the sales cycle.
  • Contribute to pipeline reviews, forecasts, and deal strategy with an honest technical view of what will and won't close.

Win the RFP

  • Own the technical response on RFIs, RFPs, and security questionnaires, delivering accurate, persuasive answers on tight deadlines.
  • Focus on what scores and what wins, and make sure FreedomPay's strengths are clear to evaluators.
  • Keep RFP content current and reusable so the team responds faster, and wins more, on every bid.

Be the Connection Point

  • Escalate complex architecture and advanced solutioning to Solution Engineering at the right moment, and brief them well enough to hit the ground running.
  • Work with Product, Systems Integrations, Account Management, and Partner teams to make sure what is sold can be delivered.
  • Bring field intelligence, competitive losses, and customer requests to Product in a form that influences the roadmap.
  • Hand off every closed deal with commitments, scope, and technical context clearly documented for implementation.

Sell Smarter with AI

  • Use AI and automation to cut the time spent on discovery prep, demo setup, and RFP drafting, so you can cover more opportunities without losing quality.
  • Build and share skills, workflows, and reusable assets that make the whole team faster.
  • Maintain the Sales Engineering knowledge base across Confluence and SharePoint.
  • Represent FreedomPay at client meetings, partner events, and industry conferences.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; technical or business discipline preferred.
  • 3–5+ years in Sales Engineering, Solutions Consulting, or a comparable pre-sales role, with a track record of supporting deals that closed.
  • Commercial mindset: you understand quota, pipeline, and forecasting, and you see your work in terms of revenue won.
  • Working knowledge of payments and FinTech, including how card-present and card-not-present transactions move through gateway, processor, and network.
  • Comfort with APIs and integration concepts, enough to hold credible technical conversations with developers and architects.
  • Ability to run multiple opportunities at the same time, prioritizing ruthlessly and responding quickly.
  • Excellent communication: clear, confident, and persuasive with technical and business audiences.
  • Proficiency using AI tools to improve Sales Engineering workflows, such as building skills, prompts, and automations for discovery, demo preparation, and RFP responses.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for client meetings and industry events.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the Payments or FinTech industry, with familiarity with POS, eCommerce, and mobile payment ecosystems.
  • Experience selling to enterprise merchants in hospitality, retail, gaming, or other verticals served by FreedomPay.
  • Familiarity with payment gateway integrations, certification, and ISV/partner ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of PCI DSS, P2PE, EMV, and tokenization.
  • CRM or similar pipeline management experience.
