About The Role

The International Settlements Clerk will ensure the end‑to‑end processing of equity and fixed‑income trades across global markets, from booking to final settlement. The role requires close coordination with custodians, counterparties, trading desks and internal operations teams to resolve discrepancies, manage fails, and maintain accurate records while adhering to market cut‑offs and regulatory requirements.

  • Process and monitor international equity and fixed‑income transactions from trade booking through final settlement.
  • Review trade details, allocations, confirmations, and matching status to identify discrepancies before market deadlines.
  • Verify settlement instructions, account details, settlement dates, currencies, and place of settlement.
  • Coordinate trade amendments and settlement instructions with global custodians, sub‑custodians, clearing agents, and counterparties.
  • Monitor securities availability and cash funding requirements; escalate shortfalls as needed.
  • Track unmatched, pending, and failed transactions, prioritizing aged fails, significant exposures, and approaching cut‑offs.
  • Investigate fail causes such as insufficient securities, funding shortages, incorrect instructions, late allocations, and booking errors.
  • Maintain fail reason codes, exception logs, and daily management reporting; follow established procedures and controls.
  • Reconcile securities positions, cash balances, and settlement activity against custodian and internal records.
  • Support investigation and resolution of settlement penalties, claims, and buy‑in notices.
  • 1‑3 years of experience in securities operations, settlements, custody, or related functions.
  • Working knowledge of international securities settlement, DVP and FOP transactions, and major market infrastructures (e.g., Euroclear, CREST).
  • Familiarity with SWIFT settlement messaging; experience with FIS Phase 3 is a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to cover international market cut‑offs and time zones.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills for interacting with custodians, counterparties, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with settlement and reconciliation systems.
  • Understanding of settlement risk, operational controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to document processes, maintain accurate logs, and produce management reports.
  • Self‑motivated with a continuous‑improvement mindset to enhance efficiency and reduce risk.
