Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT)

This position provides a wide range of assistive services to promote patient flow, patient informational gathering and patient care in the clinical setting. The Advanced EMT, under the direction of the supervision of the Clinic Manager and under the direction of the provider. Assists in providing quality care directly and indirectly. The Advanced EMT performs skills described and regulated by the Missouri Bureau of Emergency Medical Services via the authority of the Missouri Comprehensive Emergency Medical Services Systems Act (Chapter 190, Missouri Revised Statutes 190.010 –190.245).

• Collects and conveys information to the provider regarding the health status of patients throughout the visit including entering in the electronic medical record. Contributes information to the provider for development and modification of the patients care plan.
• Performs all patient care skills at the level of Advanced EMT Missouri Licensure. Assists provider with follow-up documentation and phone calls to parent\guardian\medical provider.
• Administers medications (PO, Injections, and IV) authorized for AEMT administration under clinic policy/Medical Director approval.
• Performs EKGs, splinting, crutch fitting, phlebotomy, and intravenous therapy.
• Performs point of care testing.
• Administers immunizations as directed by Advanced Practice Nurse\Physician.
• Obtains vital signs, height, weight, head circumference, vision\hearing screen and developmental assessments.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of supplies and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned

Education

• H.S. Diploma - Required
• Advanced EMT experience on Ambulance Service or hosptial setting - Required

Work Experience

• 1 Year - AEMT experience on Ambulance Service or hospital setting - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• Advanced EMT (AEMT) License - State of Missouri Advanced EMT License - Required Upon Hire
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 Days

Essential Technical/Motor Skills

• Clinical skills-Venipuncture for collection of laboratory specimens. Capillary specimens.
• Point of care testing.

• Effective verbal communications, good written skills, orientation to customer satisfaction and service/quality approach to the job

Essential Physical Requirements

• Requires standing, sitting, bending, and walking.
• Must be able to perform CPR for a sustained period

• Must be able to assist with treatment of all age levels
• Must be able to work respectfully with all patient types

Essential Sensory Requirements

• Visual, tactile, auditory skills as required for licensure as Advanced EMT.
