Nurse Practitioner - Women's Specialty Center

The Nurse Practitioner (APRN) will provide services to patients specifically in the areas of menopause care and breast cancer high risk counseling and serve as a resource to both staff and management in problem identification and resolution, working collaboratively with the Menopause Program Director physician and the Chair of OBGYN to establish strategy and direction of this program.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Obtain patient health history and performs appropriate physical examination based on age and history
• Perform and/or orders preventative diagnostic procedures as appropriate
• Provide health counseling
• Provide medical and advanced practice nursing management for patients with chronic conditions due to perimenopause, menopause or postmenopause.
• Provide medical and advanced practice nursing management for patients at high risk of developing breast cancer as established through mammography screening and health and family history.
• Check schedules and organizes patient flow; greets patients, documents patients concerns, questions.
• Accompany patient to exam/procedure room and prepares patients for physical exam.
• Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and reports any abnormalities to physician.

Schedules patient testing and pre-certifies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing
• Valid license as APRN in CT
• Maintains menopause certification through American Menopause Society
