About The Role

Join Ghost, a venture-backed company, as a Senior Accountant. In this hands-on role, you will own core accounting operations, including the general ledger, monthly close process, and AR/AP management. You will play a central role in building durable accounting systems, preparing for the first external financial audit, and scaling the reporting infrastructure. This is an opportunity to shape processes, controls, and systems in a high-growth startup environment.

  • Own the end-to-end monthly close process, including the close calendar, checklist, and timely delivery of financial statements.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations, including complex or non-routine transactions.
  • Maintain the general ledger in accordance with GAAP, applying sound technical accounting judgment to new or unusual transactions.
  • AI-native: comfortable using AI tools daily to accelerate reconciliations, analysis, and documentation, and actively looks to automate manual work
  • Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; comfortable working with large, high-volume transaction datasets
  • Comfortable being a hands-on doer on a small team; this role is about personally executing and owning the work, not delegating it
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred
  • Experience preparing for or supporting an external financial audit, including workpaper preparation and auditor management
  • Inventory, e-commerce, or marketplace accounting experience, including item-level or high-SKU environments
  • Public accounting background (audit or advisory)
  • Hands-on experience owning both AR and AP functions directly
  • Solid working knowledge of GAAP with experience applying it to real transactions, not just textbook scenarios
  • Experience in a high-growth startup environment
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP as a primary accounting system
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting matters clearly to non-finance stakeholders
  • Experience with Rillet or other modern, AI-native accounting platforms
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including direct, hands-on ownership of the month-end close process
