Payroll Accountant

At the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, our finance teams play a sacred role: safeguarding consecrated funds and supporting the Church’s mission worldwide. We are looking for a Payroll Accountant to join our Area Office in Frankfurt.

• Initiate and maintain general ledger files to support accurate and meaningful financial statements.
• Reconcile accounts, review reconciliations, and ensure all outstanding items are properly cleared.
• Consolidate accounting information for inclusion in financial statements and management reports.
• Administer payroll data and records, including wage/salary changes, deductions, new hires, terminations, and leave of absence.
• Review and verify payroll input/output data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax and labor laws.
• Liaise with external payroll partners and governmental entities regarding payroll and reporting requirements.
• Coordinate with Human Resources and other internal departments on workforce changes impacting payroll.
• Collect data and participate in internal and external payroll audits.
• Assist in preparing financial estimates, expense reports, and payroll variance reports.
• Provide recommendations to improve payroll and accounting procedures for compliance and efficiency.

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or related field.
• Relevant work experience in payroll and accounting functions.
• Solid understanding of payroll systems and accounting principles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Preferred:

• Professional qualifications (e.g., CPP, CIMA, CMA).
• Ability to reconcile accounts and analyze payroll variances.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of an additional European language.

This position may offer the possibility of remote work within the Europe Central Area.
