We have an amazing opportunity for a Social Media Team Lead based in Durban, Umhlanga. Do you think you have what it takes to be our newest Purple Star?

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring growth targets for mobile betting are achieved. Analysing financial information to identify trends, manage costs, and increase revenue in the team. Ensure proactive reporting on these areas.

You Bring

  • Relevant social media, digital marketing, community management or content experience
  • Experience coordinating work, guiding team members or acting in a senior / supervisory capacity
  • Copywriting, content review, social publishing, analytics and reporting experience
  • Valid driver’s license where travel is required
  • Relevant social media, digital marketing, community management or content experience
  • Relevant diploma or degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications or a related field

What You’ll Do For The Brand

Operational

  • Team Leadership and Delivery Management
  • Lead, coach and support assigned Social Media team members, providing day-to-day direction, guidance and constructive feedback.
  • Allocate work, manage coverage and prioritise daily, weekly and campaign-related deliverables across relevant social media platforms.
  • Set clear team goals aligned with business objectives and monitor delivery against agreed service, quality and turnaround standards.
  • Conduct regular check-ins, identify capability gaps and support on-the-job development and knowledge sharing.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for operational challenges, sensitive interactions, reputational risks and unresolved customer matters.
  • Promote accountability, collaboration and a high-performance culture within the team.
  • Social Media Execution and Campaign Coordination
  • Coordinate the implementation of approved social media strategies, content plans, campaigns, competitions and promotions.
  • Generate, edit, review, schedule, publish and share engaging content, including copy, images, video and news.
  • Oversee day-to-day online campaigns and ensure brand, tone, message and visual consistency across platforms.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to align company messages, promotions, campaign objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Support paid social media activity by tracking objectives, budgets, performance and return on investment, and escalating variances.
  • Drive audience growth, engagement and brand recognition through platform-appropriate content and initiatives.
  • Community, Customer and Reputation Management.
  • Ensure follower and customer queries are acknowledged and responded to within agreed timeframes and according to approved guidelines.
  • Monitor reviews, comments, trends and public sentiment, and coordinate timely action or escalation where required.
  • Oversee the operational management of relevant social engagement and customer interaction tools and queues.
  • Maintain effective relationships with influencers and support influencer activities in line with campaign objectives and brand standards.
  • Insights, Optimization and Reporting
  • Research audience preferences, competitor activity, benchmark trends, emerging platforms and industry opportunities.
  • Monitor social media, SEO and web traffic metrics and use insights to optimise content and campaign performance.
  • Measure campaign and marketing initiative impact, identify trends and recommend practical improvements.
  • Produce accurate daily, weekly and monthly reports covering delivery, engagement, growth, service performance and campaign outcomes.
  • Maintain awareness of digital technologies, platform changes and social media best practice, sharing relevant updates with the team.
  • Governance and Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Brand, Sales, Customer Service, Legal and other relevant teams to ensure consistent and compliant communication.
  • Apply approved processes, brand standards, escalation protocols and content approval requirements.
  • Support initiatives directed by the Online and Digital Marketing Manager and complete reasonable ad hoc duties aligned with the role.
  • Decision-Making and Escalation Scope
  • Prioritizes daily teamwork and reallocates resources to address changing operational needs.
  • Approves routine content and responses within delegated authority and established brand guidelines.
  • Escalates high-risk, legally sensitive, reputational or materially customer-impacting matters to the relevant manager or stakeholder.
  • Recommend improvements to workflows, platform use, content performance and team capability.

What You’ll Bring To The Team

  • Social Media Platform Management – Strong working knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube and other relevant social platforms.
  • Social Media Management Tools – Proficiency in social publishing, scheduling, monitoring and community management platforms.
  • Content Creation & Copywriting – Ability to develop, edit and quality-check engaging, platform-appropriate social media content.
  • Community Management – Skilled in managing online communities, customer interactions, complaints and sensitive social media conversations.
  • Social Media Analytics & Reporting – Ability to interpret platform data, identify trends and translate performance into actionable recommendations.
  • Paid Social Media Knowledge – Working knowledge of paid social campaigns, targeting, budgets, campaign objectives and performance metrics.
  • Social Listening & Reputation Management – Ability to monitor brand sentiment, emerging conversations and potential reputational risks.
  • Digital Marketing & SEO Fundamentals – Understanding of how social media contributes to broader digital marketing, web traffic and search visibility.
  • Campaign & Project Coordination – Ability to coordinate multiple campaigns, deadlines, stakeholders and team deliverables simultaneously.
  • Influencer & Creator Management – Working knowledge of influencer/creator campaigns, briefing, content management and brand alignment.
  • Social Media Compliance & Governance – Strong understanding of content approval processes, platform policies, advertising requirements and brand/compliance standards.
  • Microsoft Office / Reporting Tools – Strong Excel, PowerPoint and reporting skills for campaign analysis and management reporting.
