Senior Backend Engineer

Join M-KOPA, a leading e-mobility financing platform in Africa, as a Senior Backend Engineer. In this role, you will build event-driven microservices that power clean, affordable transport for riders and entrepreneurs across the continent. Your work will have a direct impact on reducing air pollution and promoting digital and financial inclusion. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract with the potential for extension or transition to a permanent role.

• Participer à l'architecture, à la mise en œuvre et à la surveillance des solutions, en mettant l'accent sur la qualité, l'observabilité et les tests automatisés.
• Collaborer avec les membres de l'équipe pour améliorer les processus d'ingénierie, y compris la livraison continue et les pratiques DevOps.

• We expect you to be comfortable working as part of a team which owns the entire software stack, including supporting infrastructure, throughout the entire software lifecycle, from inception through production to decommissioning under a DevOps culture
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
• Testing and deployment expertise
• Microservices architecture experience
• Strong grasp of C# .NET development
• Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Experience with event-driven systems – Service Bus or similar messaging technologies such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
• You'll value the constraints that continuous delivery places upon engineering processes and embrace testing and observability as first-order concerns in development
• Experience working with AI coding tools, ideally Claude Code or similar
• DevOps culture mindset
• Experience with Azure, or other major cloud providers such as AWS or GCP
