Volunteer

POSITION SUMMARY:Volunteer tutors are needed to support adults in our GED Preparation and English Language Learner programs. Tutors work in conjunction with classroom instructors to provide individualized and small-group support in reading, math, English language proficiency, and basic computer skills in a culturally diverse adult learning community in southwest Detroit. Patience and an understanding of the dynamics of working with adult learners with low academic skills are essential.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Some college preferred
Interest in helping adults to learn
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to function effectively as part of a professional team
Basic computer skills a plus, including Microsoft Office and Google Drive
Dedicated to maintaining a positive learning environment in nontraditional educational setting
