About The Role

Day-to-day responsibilities of this position: The Forensic Toxicology Laboratory Technician III will perform certain laboratory tasks as part of a team that shares and rotates in performing various work responsibilities such as: Bench Work in the Laboratory Blood and Urine Sample Preparation and analysis for Drugs of Abuse and Prescription Drugs using Immunoassay (ELISA), Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometer and Time of Flight instrumentation Analysis of Carbon Monoxide using spectroscopy and Volatiles using Headspace Gas Chromatograph instrumentation Analysis of Vitreous Fluid using Chemistry analyzer Preparation of reagents and drug solutions Evidence Management Sample Accessioning and Return of cases submitted Evaluation of acceptance criteria for cases submitted Repackaging evidence and storage of samples for return to submitting agencies Generation of Discrepancy forms Returning and mailing cases back to agency after completion of casework Using Lab Information System (LIMS) to track casework progress and completion Discovery Request and Record Management Filing casework and maintaining records Archiving casework Records Custodian training Driver’s License Division Requests Fulfilling requests for Final Toxicology Report and/or Preliminary Report to appropriate agencies Answering phone calls and electronic mail and relaying messages to appropriate staff members Fulfilling Discovery Requests for case proceedings Supplemental Information Due to the nature and types of testing samples this position requires compliance with the Utah Department of Health Human Services Employee Immunization policy.
