FLSA Exemption Status Non-Exempt Summary Salary Min $18.00 Salary Max $38.83 Advertised until August 4, 2026. May underfill as an Energy Delivery Facilities Specialist I. May fill multiple positions. This is skilled work involving the design of electric and gas distribution facility improvements to meet new construction, system renewal, and maintenance requirements. Positions allocated to this classification report to a designated supervisor and work under general supervision. Work in this class is distinguished from higher classifications by the absence of supervisory responsibilities and from lower classifications by its emphasis on considerable competency in the design of complex electric and gas distribution facilities. Examples of Work Designs and prepares routine work order packets with reduced supervision for small and large-scale electric and gas distribution projects, including medium and low voltage overhead and underground line extensions and related work. Utilize design tools, software, and workflow processes used to create work order packets and to prepare Railroad, City, County and State permit documents Attends and leads meetings with internal and external customers/developers to improve project management experience and to communicate utility standards, codes, guidelines, and requirements Participates in the Energy Delivery Facilities Specialist must-progress Progression-Through-Training Program (PTTP) Prepares facilities information for accurate posting in the Geographic Information System and verifies/corrects construction as-built drawings. Under reduced supervision, prepare cost estimates and billing documents to meet all City ordinances and GRU policies. Complies with all rules, regulations, codes and guidelines established by the City of Gainesville, GRU, or other regulatory agencies. Under reduced supervision, assists in conducting emergency damage assessments of facilities and is required to respond to emergency situations, including working extended or irregular hours. Manages more complex and technically advanced projects under general supervision. Education High School diploma or equivalent supplemented with mathematics and technical course required An associate degree or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Experience Two (2) Years Experience working with Auto-Cad software, electric utility line work, electric utility design, Project Dox, and similar work-related items required. Proficient in AutoCAD (AUD), GIS, and project management tools, including ProjectDOX, City Works, and Workmod. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel is required Ability to use Power BI, SAP, and other HR related applications is required. Certifications Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge and understanding of the Energy Delivery department policies and procedures. Basic math and science knowledge at a high school graduate level Good communication skills, both oral and written Organizational skills, with the ability to support multiple priorities and prioritize work and meet deadlines Ability to work as part of a team and be able to follow directions delivered both orally and in writing. Ability to conduct field inspections and complete project closeout and reconciliation process. This includes reading civil drawings and maps. Ability to apply concepts of basic electrical theory; perform electrical calculations including transformer and wire sizing and load and voltage drop calculations Ability to prepare drawings and draft permit documents using different software and tools. Ability to coordinate with external stakeholders, such as developers, realtors, and governmental agencies. Demonstrated competency in the use of Computer Aided Drafting and Design tools and Geographic Information Systems applications, including Designer.
