About The Role

PlainsCapital Bank is looking to hire a Wealth Portfolio Manager. Responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of investments for a specific group of clients, utilizing approved investment strategies, asset allocations, and model portfolios established by the Investment Policy Committee and Chief Investment Officer, monitoring and rebalancing the investments, implementing tactical decisions, and managing tax strategy and attributing performance where applicable. These clients are primarily affluent individuals/families, corporations, or charitable organizations. Considered an integral role to each relationship, and although the assigned Administrator will often be the “Relationship Manager,” the PM’s specific involvement in communicating with each client will be determined by each relationship’s unique considerations and needs.

  • Reports directly to and accepts direction from the Chief Investment Officer.
  • Performs trading, rebalancing and other portfolio management services in strict accordance with guidelines established by the Investment Policy Committee.
  • Supports client acquisition, business development, and retention efforts through participation in prospect meetings and relationship reviews as requested.
  • Participates in investment meetings and contributes research, analysis, observations, and recommendations regarding approved investments, portfolio construction, market developments, and investment strategies.
  • Review and interpret portfolio and benchmark performance results and identify key drivers of performance. Analyze portfolio attribution and performance dispersion to improve portfolio implementation and client outcomes.
  • Utilize approved performance and risk reports in ongoing portfolio management and client communications.
  • Stays up to date on the current monetary, fiscal, and economic environment and their implications on various financial markets.
  • Present portfolio reviews, investment recommendations, and market commentary to clients and internal stakeholders as assigned.
  • Research projects as needed.
  • Completion of annual account reviews.
  • Ad hoc projects, as determined by management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5 years of relevant financial services experience, preferably with a bank, or 3 years of experience directly managing investments.
  • Accreditation from the CFA Institute or Chartered Market Technician CMT, or willingness to work to achieve is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of Modern Portfolio Theory, Adaptive Market Theory, fiduciary responsibilities, and investment policy implementation.
  • Excellent analytical, time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and systems. Interest in emerging investment technologies, artificial intelligence applications, automation tools, and data-driven analytical techniques.
  • Self-motivated professional capable of exercising sound judgment with appropriate supervision and guidance.
  • Willingness to travel on a limited basis for new opportunities and/or client meetings.
