About The Role
BASIC FUNCTION
Serves as internal legal counsel and works with General Counsel to determine legal posture and interests of the Association. Ensures that business practices, policies, and dealings of the association meet regulatory requirements and applicable policies and procedures governing business practices. Responsible for supporting the Risk Management function. Manages and maintains the Association’s bylaws, policies and procedures manual, and processes for policy/procedure adoption, publishing and review.

SUPERVISES: None
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
- EDUCATION: Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Successful completion of the state bar examination and qualified to practice law in the state.
- EXPERIENCE: At least one to three years of law practice.
SENSORY AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have ability to read documents from many sources.
- Must be able to communicate audibly in and with staff, customers and general public.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- Thorough understanding of litigation, bankruptcy, and negotiated settlement procedures
- Excellent organizational skills; proficient in the use of personal computers, multi-tasking. Good judgment and communications (oral and written) skills;
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, regulations, and/or ag practices;
- Strong analysis, judgment, and decision-making skills;
- Broad understanding of the laws and regulations governing financial institutions;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
- Ability to communicate information and ideas in writing and speaking so that others
will understand
RESPONSIBILITIES (the essential responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to)
30% 1. Researches and analyzes various internal legal issues, summarizes findings, and renders opinion
and recommendations to management and/or the board as needed. Advises officers and/or board members
on routine legal questions and procedures pertaining to lending operations, the administration of loans, and internal corporate matters.
25% 2. Provides a Level of Internal Control for Credit Processes/Policies. Manages and maintains the Association’s bylaws, policies and procedures manual, and processes for policy/procedure adoption, publishing and review.
25% 5. Monitors compliance and keeps informed on policy and procedures updates; Coordinate and conducts training as needed
10% 3. Serves as Compliance Officer for the association
10% 4. Serves as Standards of Conduct Officer for the association
