Crane Operator

Wood is currently seeking an experienced Crane Operator for a Night Shift assignment working a 21/21 offshore rotation to support a Romanian based project for a minimum of 6 months.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a major gas infrastructure project, supporting the safe and efficient operation of metering and production facilities.

Duration: Minimum 6 months

The Crane Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of offshore lifting operations supporting the well clean-up campaign, GPP back-gassing activities, and hydrocarbon export operations. This role involves conducting pre-start-up crane checks, ensuring Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements are met, and managing deck logistics, cargo handling, and container movements in accordance with operational and safety procedures.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Production Supervisor and Start-up Team and will ensure all lifting activities are planned and executed safely while maintaining effective communication across offshore teams. The position also plays a key role in promoting HSE excellence through risk assessment participation, toolbox talks, hazard identification, and emergency response support.

• Support offshore start-up and commissioning activities to ensure a safe and efficient transition into production
• Support export pipeline commissioning and hydrocarbon transfer to onshore facilities
• Provide technical and operational support during commissioning, start-up, and early production phases
• Conduct pre-start-up crane inspections and ensure PTW requirements are in place before operations
• Operate offshore cranes safely for lifting, cargo handling, and logistics activities
• Coordinate with the Production Supervisor and Start-up Team to support daily operational requirements
• Manage deck activities, container movements, and material handling on the NAP
• Enforce HSE procedures and safe lifting practices
• Participate in risk assessments and toolbox talks
• Ensure compliance with PTW and lifting operation requirements
• Identify workplace hazards and support emergency response activities

Expected

• Valid Offshore Crane Operator (Stage 3 or equivalent) certification
• Offshore survival certifications: BOSIET/FOET and HUET
• Valid offshore medical certificate (e.g., OGUK)
• Proven years of experience as an Offshore Crane Operator
• VHF Radio Licence
• Experience in crane servicing, lubrication, and basic maintenance
• Strong knowledge of HSE practices, hazard identification, and emergency response
• Ability to ensure crane readiness in line with start-up procedures and work packs
• Effective communication and coordination skills with multidisciplinary teams
• LOLER, Banksman, and Slinging certification/training
• Engineering degree is preferred but not mandatory
• Coxswain, Dangerous Goods (DG), and HLO certifications

• Experience working within the North Sea energy sector, with an understanding of offshore operations
