Driller (Mining/Quarry/ Construction) - Mtwara

Purpose of the role

The candidate for this role will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating drilling equipment in mining, quarrying, construction, or exploration environments, ensuring drilling activities are carried out according to approved plans, site requirements, operational procedures, and workplace health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and control drilling equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with drilling plans and site instructions.
• -
• Carry out drilling activities while maintaining appropriate drilling parameters based on ground conditions and operational requirements.
• -
• Perform daily inspections of drilling equipment and identify and report mechanical or operational issues.
• -
• Carry out basic operator-level maintenance to ensure drilling equipment remains in safe and effective working condition.
• -
• Read and understand drilling plans, basic site instructions, and relevant drilling requirements.
• -
• Monitor drilling activities and maintain awareness of ground conditions during operations.
• -
• Follow all workplace health and safety requirements and ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times.
• -
• Work effectively with multidisciplinary site teams, including mining, quarrying, construction, blasting, and production personnel.
• -
• Maintain good housekeeping around the drilling equipment and work area.
• -
• Perform any other drilling-related duties assigned by supervisors or management.

Qualifications & Experience

• -
• Relevant heavy equipment or drilling operator training or certification
• -
• Minimum of 2–3 years of practical drilling experience, preferably in mining, quarrying, construction, or exploration
• -
• Demonstrated ability to safely operate and control drilling equipment
• -
• Ability to read and understand drilling plans and basic site instructions
• -
• Basic understanding of drilling parameters and ground conditions
• -
• Ability to perform daily equipment inspections and basic operator-level maintenance
• -
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
• -
• Physically and medically fit to perform drilling duties
• -
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary site team
• -
• Experience with DTH, rotary, top-hammer, or RC drilling is an added advantage
• -
• Experience in production or blast-hole drilling is an added advantage
• -
• Experience in hard-rock mining or quarrying is an added advantage
• -
• Experience using GPS or automated drill positioning systems is an added advantage
• -
• Recognized drilling-machine manufacturer training is an added advantage
• -
• Previous experience working with blasting or mine production teams is an added advantage
