Fitter Technician - Mtwara

Purpose of the role

The candidate for this role will be responsible for carrying out mechanical fitting, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities on mechanical equipment, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while supporting preventive and corrective maintenance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out mechanical fitting, maintenance, inspection, and repair activities on mechanical equipment.
• -
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with maintenance requirements and operational procedures.
• -
• Inspect mechanical equipment to identify faults, wear, damage, and potential maintenance requirements.
• -
• Work with hydraulic and pneumatic systems as part of mechanical maintenance activities.
• -
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, specifications, and related technical documentation.
• -
• Use mechanical hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments safely and correctly.
• -
• Support the installation, dismantling, adjustment, alignment, and maintenance of mechanical components and equipment.
• -
• Apply appropriate mechanical maintenance practices to ensure equipment reliability and minimize breakdowns.
• -
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and organized condition.
• -
• Comply with workplace health and safety requirements during all maintenance and fitting activities.

Qualifications & Experience

• -
• Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Fitting, Plant Maintenance, or a related technical field
• -
• Minimum of 3 years' relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in mining, quarrying, construction, manufacturing, or heavy-equipment operations
• -
• Proven practical experience in mechanical fitting and maintenance
• -
• Good knowledge of mechanical equipment and maintenance practices
• -
• Practical knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• -
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, manuals, and equipment specifications
• -
• Ability to use mechanical hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
• -
• Understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance practices
• -
• Good knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements
