Production engineer

About The Role
Job Purpose
This position is required to aid manufacturing production to ensure production is always on time with good quality, the role will also be managing ecr and ecn implementation as well as problem solving and problem solutions, including part error, design error, continuous improvement ect.
Job Context
This role will require mainly office and computer work but will sometimes require hands on work on the shop floor

- The role is based in Thailand although it may entail travelling abroad to other Lucy sites as appropriate.

- Undertake any reasonable hours necessary to carry out the role effectively.
Key Accountabilities
These will include
General
- organizes and manages project labour and the delivery of materials, plant and equipment. establishes standards and policies for installation, modification, quality control, testing, inspection and maintenance according to engineering principles and safety regulations.

Support to production
- Managing Engineering change request (ECR) and Engineering change notification (ECN), this will entail analysing incoming ecn’s monitoring and supporting the implementation
- It will also involve raising ECR’s for design issues when they arise, Continuous improvement ideas to reduce cost, implementation of new ideas and solutions relating to design and procurement
- Support to production when there is a fault on the shop floor, to identify issues, root cause, isolation, and implement solutions, then follow up with required ECR to ensure no repeat issues
- Managing routing and implementing single part costing
- Maintenance coordination with breakdown and improvements

- Suggest and implement improved method of manufacturing: -
- Through a better sequence of operation/process improvement, design changes etc.
- Through efficient and latest machinery.
- Help with Procurement of machines and necessary tools.
- Implementation of improved “scientific” layout. All of the above should be accompanied by proper analysis and feasibility reports for presenting to the management.
- Suggest and implement improvements to process or product design for Continuous improvement

- Lean manufacturing.
- Eliminate waste activities
- Suggest and implement alternate layouts based on batch/single piece flow using lean tools.
- Ergonomic design and positioning of workbenches
- All these changes need to be done in the tandem with production through presentations, cost benefits due to improved efficiency.

Time database and work instructions
- Generate extensive database for various assemblies/product groups with a view to have the requisite data ready for use during layout generation.
- Generate work instructions for all new product and new process introduced in Thailand site, where-ever required.

New Product Introduction
- Product study from a manufacturing perspective and design correction for production ease
- Pre-production run
- In-corporate all manufacturing facility for new product and also ensuring all testing and documentation is in place.
- Liaise with Industrial engineer/manager to take over the industrial engineering part of production introduction.
- Iron out issues before production release.
- Create / update and follow up on obstruction during prototype and preproduction build
Secondary activities / tasks
- To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required / instructed in order to maintain and / or improve the efficiency, quality and service provided by the company
- Comply with all company policies and procedures and maintain confidentiality of information relating to the company’s business and staff.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical/Industrial Engineering with minimum 6-7 years’ experience in a production engineering role
- -
- Have good managerial capabilities to be able to lead teams on projects
- -
- Good command in English, both written and spoken.

- Well versed in understanding engineering drawings

- Skills with CAD system and drawing management systems
- -
- Skills with CRM software
- -
- Have fire in him to grow in the organization.
- A background in Switchgear or Electrical / mechanical related industry (Desirable)

Responsibilities
- Process Design Engineering: Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems.
- Engineering Solutions Design: Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
- Engineering Standards Specification: Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
- Engineering Inspections: Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Testing: Use product specifications to design test procedures and standards.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
- Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
- Recommendations: Advise managers how to apply a wide variety of existing procedures and precedents.
- Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

- Develop or conduct quality control tests to ensure consistent production quality.
- Compile operational data to develop cost or time estimates, schedules, or specifications.
- Collect and analyze data related to quality or industrial health and safety programs.
- Prepare layouts of machinery or equipment, using drafting equipment or computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Prepare schedules for equipment use or routine maintenance.
- Prepare reports regarding inventories of raw materials or finished products.
- Monitor and control inventory.
- Supervise production workers.
- Request equipment upgrades or purchases.
- Design plant or production facility layouts.
- Create computer applications for manufacturing processes or operations, using computer-aided design (CAD) or computer-assisted manufacturing (CAM) tools.
