About The Role

We have an opportunity for an experienced Programme Manager to join our Telco NZ business in Auckland. Reporting to the Head of Project Delivery, you will lead the governance and delivery of multiple concurrent projects across a range of customers, contracts and workstreams.

You will bring individual projects together as a coordinated programme, providing clear direction to Project Managers and delivery teams while maintaining accountability for performance, financial outcomes, customer satisfaction, risk management and continuous improvement. As the primary escalation point for project delivery issues, you will help create consistency across planning, execution, reporting and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities include

  • Leading multiple projects across different customers and workstreams as an integrated programme
  • Establishing programme priorities, delivery strategies and performance expectations
  • Providing leadership, direction and coaching to Project Managers and delivery teams
  • Managing programme revenue, margin, profitability, cash flow and forecasting
  • Building trusted customer relationships and leading governance meetings and monthly business reviews
  • Resolving escalated delivery, commercial and contractual issues
  • Managing resource demand, capacity planning, programme risks and improvement initiatives
  • Championing Downer's Zero Harm culture and ensuring programme activities meet company, customer and regulatory requirements

You will be a strategic and commercially focused programme leader who can bring people, projects and priorities together. You will be comfortable operating in a complex delivery environment, engaging with senior customers and making informed decisions based on programme and financial performance.

You will bring

  • 5 to 7+ years of project and or programme management experience
  • At least 3 years in a senior leadership role managing multiple project teams
  • Proven experience delivering projects end to end with significant financial accountability
  • Strong commercial, financial and forecasting capability
  • Experience working with senior leadership teams and customers
  • Advanced stakeholder management, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Leadership and coaching capability supported by strong risk management and problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a continuous improvement mindset
  • A tertiary qualification or equivalent will be highly regarded
  • A demonstrated commitment to Zero Harm and alignment with Downer's values of Courage, Excellence, Integrity and Collaboration
