About The Role

Role Purpose

To oversee and supervise all Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Construction projects and program. Also, facilitate compliance of OHS standards and monitor unsafe conditions, unsafe acts and other activities in order to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for SANS employees within the set KPIs, agreed budgets and adopted policies and procedure

Key Accountability Areas

Key Activities

Facility Checks and Assessment

  • Develop reports indicating the results of all health and safety checks conducted on SANS facilities and provide recommendations for improvement / remedial action as needed
  • Conduct awareness sessions to maximize awareness on health and safety activities and issue safety instructions when necessary to resolve safety violations
  • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure safety, health and environment standards and processes are met for all facilities.
  • Communicate any safety highlight with employees as required within concerned geographic area.

Incident Management & Control

  • Develop reports including the incidents that occurred, the facility in which the incident occurred and record the time of the incident
  • Propose methods to manage potential hazardous conditions and practices in systems, equipment, facilities or processes
  • Conduct investigation process as necessary when incident occurs

Compliance Control & Management

  • Ensure that all facilities are complying with all health and safety regulations
  • Ensure that all facilities are complying with all requirements of the law and instructions issued by the Occupational Health & Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) project group
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and the implementation of safety initiatives within SANS Directorates to enhance the overall safety of systems and facilities
  • Follow up with concerned departments to resolve failure and problems affecting health, safety and environment.

Policies, Processes and Procedures

  • Support in monitoring day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures
  • Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes taking into account leading practices, changes in business environment, cost reduction and productivity improvement

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in facility / safety administration.

Education and Certifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field is required
  • NEBOSH SS – NEBOSH IG – IOSH – OSHA
