About The Role

  • The Manager, Member Recruitment provides leadership for the public-facing Account Manager and Member
  • Recruitment Coordinator team in their assigned regional district. They are responsible for enabling each
  • Account Manager to achieve their member recruitment objectives through lead generation and conversion,
  • leveraging strategic partnerships, account retention initiatives, and implementing strategies and tactics to
  • achieve sustainable results year-over-year. They also guide day-to-day recruitment operations and event
  • execution through each Member Recruitment Coordinator.
  • This position works with multiple internal partners, including Programs & Partnerships, Marketing, and
  • Member Engagement & Experience. They are tasked with positioning the NMDP mission for optimal access
  • across a variety of territories and account types, developing an understanding of each local market within their
  • region. They lead initiatives on a regional scale that promote efficiency, provide superior service to external
  • partners and volunteers, and result in educated, committed, and responsive donors.
  • This role will work collaboratively with a regional leadership team to accomplish monthly, quarterly, and annual
  • registry enrollment goals.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Regional District Leadership

  • Partners with the Director, Member Recruitment to guide development of strategic
  • business plans for each territory, creating access to event sponsors, volunteers, and
  • prospective members within targeted accounts.
  • Guides data-driven, comprehensive account planning that considers knowledge of target
  • market audiences (effective messaging, communication preferences, etc.), evaluation of
  • external partners’ business needs and changing dynamics within each territory. Provides sound business recommendations tailored to each territory team. Demonstrates a keen
  • ability to prioritize current and future opportunities in alignment with Member
  • Recruitment and organizational goals.
  • Regularly reviews the Lead -> Opportunity -> Event pipeline in the prospecting and
  • planning stages for each territory to ensure optimal member recruitment results and
  • progress towards targeted goals.
  • Regularly reviews recruitment activity in the planning and post-event stages to ensure an excellent
  • registration experience for new members and exceptional customer service for event sponsors and
  • volunteers.
  • Enables Account Managers to position the NMDP mission by communicating a compelling
  • value proposition resulting in strong support from event sponsors and committed and
  • responsive registry members.
  • Effectively provides coaching and identifies skill gaps to coordinate appropriate training and
  • ongoing professional development opportunities for Account Managers and Member Recruitment
  • Coordinators.
  • Provides coaching to Member Recruitment Coordinators that leads to successful execution of

recruitment events.

  • Owns implementation of operational decisions and supports appropriate prioritization and alignment

among territory partners.

  • Sets the example for how to educate prospective donors regarding the NMDP mission, including but
  • not limited to the two ways to donate, ensuring new registry members are well-informed and
  • committed to proceed should they be asked to donate. Responds to questions, issues, and concerns of
  • prospective donors at time of registration.
  • Ensures compliance with Member Recruitment Manual of Operations, Brand Standards, and
  • established business processes including timely shipment of swabs, identifying and reconciling issues
  • with samples stored, and Salesforce task management.
  • Regularly brings the highest priority needs of their regional district to the attention of the Director,

Member Recruitment.

  • Invests in developing collaborative and reciprocal partnerships with internal stakeholders, leading

without authority to drive alignment and coordination across MDPO.

  • Ensures responsible use of resources, including travel and event expense budget.
  • With regional leaders, sets the example for cultivating a healthy team that abides by NMDP Operating

Principles and Values.

Volunteer Management Support

  • Supports Member Recruitment Coordinators in developing strategies to recruit,
  • engage and retain volunteers, including episodic and long-term volunteers. Ensures
  • compliance with volunteer training standards, tracking of hours and management of
  • volunteer opportunities in the Volunteer Portal.
  • Supports Member Recruitment Coordinators in regularly planning volunteer

recognition and appreciation activities.

  • Ensures that Member Recruitment Coordinators are staffing events with the
  • appropriate number of volunteers needed to deliver projected recruitment volumes
  • resulting in committed and responsive potential donors.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Manage performance of direct reports through coaching according to key performance indicators.

and accounts.

  • Demonstrate a consultative, results-driven approach to business development and retention, grounded

in how the customer thinksand makes decisions.

  • Navigate college and university systems, such as athletics, diverse affinity groups, student government,

Greeks, etc.

  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication.
  • Be self-motivated and sustain a results-driven mindset.
  • Make data-driven decisions and leverage insights to strategically build an effective registry.
  • Effectively convey complex concepts to foster understanding and alignment when spear-heading

process improvements and managing implementation of Director- and Executive-led initiatives.

  • Use effective organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Lead through change, resolve conflict and maintain alignment with Member Recruitment and

organizational goals.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of formal education and
  • experience. On evaluation, equivalent experience and/or education related to the
  • minimum experience requirement may be substituted for the degree.
  • 2+ years of experience leading full-time employees
  • 3+ years of experience in business operations leadership
  • Minimum 5 years subject matter expertise in strategic sales leadership.
  • Experience in community engagement and account cultivation with a focus on retention

where defined goals or targets are required.

  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously; ability to prioritize rigorously to best serve key

initiatives.

  • Expert use of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Salesforce,

and the Internet required.

  • Proficient use of reporting and project management tools such as Looker and Asana

required.

  • Experience as a marrow or PBSC donor or a direct connection to the mission is aplus.

Travel

  • Must be willing to travel within region as needed (~25%), occasionally working evenings/weekends.

Occasional national travel, 2-3 trips per year.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
