About The Role

Join Zipline, a pioneering company in the field of drone delivery. As a Maps Intern, you will contribute to and own portions of Zipline's Maps stack, including path planning algorithms and spatial data generation. This full-time internship will take place in-person at our South San Francisco office from January 2027 to April 2027. Ideal candidates should have completed at least their second year of undergraduate studies, have experience with spatial data, and possess strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills.

  • Contributing to and owning portions of Zipline’s Maps stack, including path planning service and data generation.
  • Working on services that generate routes and spatial planning artifacts, and improving planning algorithms.
  • Collaborating with teams to make spatial data accessible and enhancing routing capabilities.
  • Our ideal candidate works well in startup environments, is comfortable wearing many hats, and is excited to learn about many aspects of how Zipline’s spatial planning works today
  • Must have at least completed the second year of your Undergraduate studies. Masters and PhD students are also eligible
  • Preferred experience with spatial data
  • Understanding of automated testing practices
  • Deep understanding of algorithmic optimization
  • Strong analytical and technical problem solving skills
  • Proficient coding and programming skills
  • Preferred experience supporting or developing novel algorithmic research
