About The Role
JOB DESCRIPTION - Fire Fighting Engineer
We are seeking a talented Fire Fighting Engineer to join one of our Clients in UAE. The ideal candidate will lead the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of fire-fighting and fire-protection systems, ensuring full compliance with NFPA, Civil Defense, and local authority codes across assigned projects.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
- Review and approve fire-fighting system designs (sprinklers, hydrants, hose reels, fire pumps, foam/gas
suppression systems)
- Perform hydraulic calculations and ensure system design meets NFPA 13/14/20 and local Civil Defence
requirements
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and technical specifications for compliance
Installation & Execution
- Supervise on-site installation of fire pumps, piping networks, sprinkler heads, hydrants, and detection interfaces
- Coordinate fire-fighting works with other MEP disciplines (electrical, HVAC, BMS/SCADA) to manage interfaces
- Monitor progress against schedule and resolve site execution issues
Testing & Commissioning
- Plan and lead flushing, hydrostatic/pressure testing, and functional testing of fire pumps and systems
- Coordinate integrated testing with fire alarm, life-safety, and BMS systems
- Prepare commissioning reports and ensure readiness for Civil Defence inspection and approval
Compliance & QHSE
- Ensure all works comply with NFPA, local Civil Defence codes, and project specifications
- Liaise with Civil Defence/authorities for approvals, inspections, and NOC issuance
- Enforce QHSE standards during installation and testing activities
Documentation & Handover
- Maintain as-built drawings, test certificates, and O&M manuals
- Prepare fire-fighting system handover packages to Operations/FM
- Train FM/operations staff on system operation and maintenance
Team & Stakeholder Management
- Supervise fire-fighting technicians/foremen and subcontractors
- Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and authority engineers
- Support cost estimation, material take-offs, and variation assessments related to fire-fighting scope
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Fire Protection Engineering (or equivalent)
- 2-4 years of Experience in fire-fighting systems design/execution, preferably in UAE/GCC
- NFPA certification (CFPS or similar) preferred
- Strong knowledge of Dubai/Abu Dhabi Civil Defence approval procedures
- Experience with fire pump testing, hydraulic calculations, and BMS/fire-alarm interface coordination
Key Skills
- NFPA codes & standards (13, 14, 20, 72)
- Hydraulic design software (e.g., Hydratec, Elite Fire)
- AutoCAD/Revit MEP
- Strong coordination, leadership, and client-facing communication skills
- QHSE awareness and and site safety leadership
- UAE Driving License is Mandatory
