Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist-Lynchburg, VA

Centra Medical Group is seeking an Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist to join our nationally recognized, comprehensive cardiovascular program in Lynchburg, Virginia.

The ideal candidate will have Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology (AHFTC) fellowship training and an interest in building and advancing heart failure care within a collaborative, physician-led program. You’ll work alongside an experienced cardiovascular team with strong multidisciplinary relationships across electrophysiology, critical care, Palliative Care, PACE, and other specialties throughout Centra.

Centra’s Heart & Vascular Institute and Stroobants Cardiovascular Center offer a sophisticated cardiovascular program encompassing advanced cardiac imaging, interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, structural heart, vascular care, and cardiothoracic surgery.

Centra Medical Group (CMG) is a comprehensive network of nearly 600 employed providers within Centra Health. Centra Health services a population of 600,000 community members with 70 different outpatient and specialty practices. Centra offers primary care and specialty services across Central and Southern Virginia—from Lynchburg to Danville, Farmville, Moneta, and Bedford. CMG includes family practices, specialists, and surgeons in fields such as cardiology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, urology, and more.

CMG is also home to the Lynchburg Family Medicine Residency, a training program for future family physicians, many of whom hold academic appointments with institutions like UVA, VCU, VCOM, and Liberty University.

  • Alternating inpatient and outpatient weeks, with dedicated imaging days
  • Dedicated Heart Failure outpatient clinic with specialized Cardiomyopathy clinic, including Cardiac Amyloidosis, Sarcoidosis and Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.
  • Impatient service- provides care for patients with ADHF and cardiogenic shock. We offer full spectrum of temporary mechanical support such as IABP, Impella CS,
  • Impella 5.5, and VA ECMO)

  • Shared general cardiology call of approximately 1:12, including Saturday or Sunday coverage approximately four weekends per year
  • Collaborative LVAD care with established regional transplant/LVAD programs, including UVA, VCU, and Duke
  • Large, physician-led group of board-certified cardiologists
  • AHFTC fellowship training preferred
  • Strong collaboration with EP, intensivists, Palliative Care, PACE, and other specialty teams
  • Opportunities to incorporate procedures and cardiac imaging based on interest and training
  • Support from a team of 18 APPs
  • Fully hospital-integrated cardiovascular program
  • Established clinical research team within the practice
  • Physician leadership and program-development opportunities
  • 2-year partnership track
  • Completion of medical degree and residency/fellowship training in Cardiology.
  • MD/DO with certification by an American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board in physician's primary specialty. Must be board certified or in the process of certifying.
