Job Summary Supervises the construction, installation, alteration, and repair of sheetmetal and roofing projects in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and work orders; inspects roofs; and makes recommendations for replacements. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Supervises, plans, organizes, and controls sheetmetal and roofing activities to include the construction, installations, alteration, or repair of sheetmetal or roofing products. Assists the Major Projects Coordinator and other Project Coordinators with inspections, reviewing and estimating of new roofs and re-roofing projects. Meets with Architects and Engineers to plan and design new roofs and re-roof projects. Determines type, gauge, and amount of material required for performance of work. Supervises and participates in shingle, rolled, built-up, and clay tile roofing repairs. Performs fabrication of local manufactured items required for support of other trades. Coordinates and participates in the setting up and operating of equipment such as power saws, drill presses, hand and power shears, pan and box brakes, lock-formers, cleat benders, and rollers to cut, punch, thread, and form sheetmetal. Assembles ducts, hoods, and other sheetmetal products; solders and bolts connections; applies insulation as required; and inspects, assembles, and installs for conformance with specifications. Performs operational checks of ducts and other sheetmetal installations to determine corrective action to be taken to include maintenance and repair. Follows a predetermined schedule of preventive maintenance. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in a timely, fair, and objective manner.
