Job Summary
The Equipment Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of warehouse and logistics equipment through preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair activities. The role requires strong technical expertise, quick problem-solving skills, and a commitment to minimizing equipment downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repair work on warehouse equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot common mechanical and electrical equipment failures, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Carry out general electric welding and gas welding repairs when required, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests to minimize operational disruption.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, repair logs, and equipment performance data.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and workplace safety.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies, health and safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Collaborate with operations teams to identify recurring issues and implement preventive solutions.
Qualification Requirements
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience in an equipment maintenance or technician role.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot common equipment malfunctions independently.
- Proficient in performing general electric welding and gas welding repairs.
- Alternatively, long-term contract workers transitioning to permanent employment with at least 6 months of stable service history may be considered.
- Candidates holding additional advanced technical certifications, vocational qualifications, or trade licenses are preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and maintenance principles.
Performance Requirements
- Maintain a low equipment failure rate through effective preventive maintenance practices.
- Demonstrate fast response and repair completion times for equipment breakdowns.
- Achieve maintenance performance targets supported by measurable operational data and KPIs.
- Contribute to improving equipment uptime, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical diploma, vocational qualification, or equivalent certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, or a related field.
- Welding certification or relevant trade qualifications.
- Experience within logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or automated equipment environments.
