You’ll be instrumental in helping privately-owned businesses confidently navigate complex tax environments. As a Manager , Private Business (Business Tax), you will provide customised tax advisory and compliance services, supporting clients ranging from family enterprises and partnerships to privately-held companies.

What you’ll do

  • Manage and strengthen relationships with a portfolio of private business clients, whilst understanding their broader commercial and tax needs .
  • Lead the delivery of tax compliance, tax planning and tax advisory services for large client groups with multiple types of entities, including trusts, companies, partnerships, and individuals.
  • Review tax returns, tax calculations and advisory work prepared by junior team members, ensuring technical accuracy, quality and compliance with current legislation.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients on tax-efficient structures and transactions, including succession planning, restructures, mergers and acquisitions, and business exits.
  • Stay across changes in tax legislation, ATO guidance and market developments, translating complex technical matters into clear and practical client advice.
  • Support clients with tax-related services for acquisitions, including tax due diligence, reviewing tax sections of purchase agreements, tax consolidation calculations, and stub period tax returns.
  • Identify and manage tax risks for clients, developing practical strategies that support compliance while aligning with their commercial objectives .
  • Stay across changes in tax legislation, ATO guidance and market developments, translating complex technical matters into clear and practical client advice.
  • Lead, coach and develop junior team members, supporting their technical growth and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Work with Partners and Directors to identify opportunities to expand client relationships and deliver broader PwC solutions.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to work across teams, including audit, deals, legal and advisory, to provide holistic solutions for clients.

What we are looking for

  • Strong technical tax knowledge across areas such as trusts, companies, partnerships, tax consolidations, restructures, CGT, Division 7 A and transaction-related tax matters.
  • Driving client growth by delivering exceptional service and identifying opportunities for additional services and solutions.
  • A proven ability to manage client relationships, lead engagements and deliver high-quality tax compliance and advisory outcomes.
  • Experience in Australian business tax, with a strong understanding of private business clients.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts clearly and confidently to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Innovate and streamline tax processes within the team, enhancing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Work closely with other departments (e.g., audit, advisory) to provide holistic solutions to clients.
  • Help expand the firm's market presence by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Continuously develop your expertise and credentials, contributing to the firm's reputation for excellence.
  • CA, CPA, CTA or equivalent qualification, or working towards completion.
