We are seeking an Associate pr Principal level Electrical Engineer - EHV Substations to join our growing Power & Energy team and play a leading role in the design and delivery of complex transmission infrastructure projects across Australia.
This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer with deep technical expertise in extra high voltage (EHV) substation design to lead projects, mentor engineers, and contribute to the development of critical energy infrastructure supporting Australia's net-zero future.
What You'll Do
You will provide technical leadership across major transmission and substation projects ranging from 330kV to 500kV. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will oversee the development of primary electrical designs from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
Your responsibilities will include
- Leading the delivery of EHV/HV substation primary design packages.
- Providing technical direction and mentorship to engineers across the business.
- Undertaking and reviewing power system studies and design calculations.
- Developing substation layouts, equipment specifications, and design documentation.
- Supporting project delivery teams through design reviews and construction phases.
- Engaging with clients, utilities, contractors, and key project stakeholders.
- Contributing to proposals, technical excellence initiatives, and capability development.
About You
You are a technically strong electrical engineer with extensive experience in transmission and substation design and a passion for developing others.
You will bring
- Degree qualifications in Electrical, Power Systems, or equivalent Engineering discipline.
- Significant experience in HV/EHV substation design within the power or utilities sector.
- Proven expertise delivering substation projects in the 330kV to 500kV range.
- Strong capability in one or more of the following:
- Earthing design, EMF and LFI studies
- Insulation coordination studies
- Arc Flash studies
- Power system studies including load flow, short circuit and protection coordination
- HV cable sizing and associated calculations
- Experience undertaking technical studies rather than solely reviewing third-party work.
- Strong understanding of:
- Conductor and busbar sizing
- Short circuit forces
- Lightning protection
- Lighting design studies
- Substation equipment layouts
- High-voltage equipment specifications
