About The Role

About Woven by Toyota

Woven by Toyota is enabling Toyota’s once-in-a-century transformation into a mobility company. Inspired by a legacy of innovating for the benefit of others, our mission is to challenge the current state of mobility through human-centric innovation — expanding what “mobility” means and how it serves society.

Our work centers on four pillars: AD/ADAS, our autonomous driving and advanced driver assist technologies; Arene, our software development platform for software-defined vehicles; Woven City, a test course for mobility; and Cloud & AI, the digital infrastructure powering our collaborative foundation. Business-critical functions empower these teams to execute, and together, we’re working toward one bold goal: a world with zero accidents and enhanced well-being for all.

TEAM

The AD/ADAS group at Woven by Toyota is developing a scalable, data-driven approach to autonomous and assisted driving. Our AV Performance Team develops strategies and executes testing globally for Toyota’s Personally Owned Vehicle (POV). Team members include testing experts that build, execute and refine test methods - in simulation, closed course, and real world environments - enabling data driven decisions about the functions we develop and their integrated performance. The testing feedback from our team is critical to accelerating vehicle development and delivering production-ready solutions based on cutting edge research and development in the domain.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Our Product Delivery organization is looking for a Software Test Technical Specialist that is passionate about building robust, scalable, and automated software validation methods for AD/ADAS systems. This individual will be responsible for defining and executing test strategies that validate software interfaces, input/output behavior, state transitions, and interactions between components.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and lead software component-level test strategy
  • Develop component and component group test cases
  • Establish automated testing in CI/CD pipelines
  • Improve requirements and testability
  • Drive failure mode and edge-case validation

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The following skills and experience are required.

  • 5+ years of AD/ADAS software testing experience
  • Strong software testing experience
  • Hands-on experience designing, implementing, and automating tests for software components, APIs, or embedded software
  • Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills, with experience interpreting logs, traces and system behavior to resolve software issues
  • Programming skills for test automation
  • Experience developing test scripts, test harnesses, or test tools using Python, C++, or similar programming languages
  • Understanding of software interfaces and system behavior
  • Ability to understand API specifications, data flows, state transitions, and sequence diagrams, and to design input/output-based tests and component interaction tests
  • Ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to work independently across multiple teams, manage ambiguity, and drive alignment on testing scope and acceptance criteria with Product, Systems Engineering, and Development stakeholders
  • Experience with CI/CD and automated regression testing
  • Practical experience with automated testing, regression testing, and continuous integration environments using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI
  • Japanese and English reading, writing, and communication skills

NICE TO HAVES

  • Experience with automotive software standards or processes
  • Understanding of automotive software development and safety-related processes such as ISO 26262, ASPICE, AUTOSAR, MISRA, or SOTIF
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools like JAMA
  • Experience with simulation, SIL, HIL, or vehicle testing
  • Experience in development or validation of AD/ADAS areas such as perception, prediction, planning, control, sensor fusion, or driver assistance features
  • Experience with automotive software standards or processes
  • Experience validating software using SIL/HIL environments, simulation platforms, log replay, or vehicle testing
  • Technical leadership as an individual contributor
  • Experience technically leading test architecture, test strategy, or quality improvement initiatives as an individual contributor rather than as a people manager
  • Knowledge of ML model evaluation
  • Knowledge or experience evaluating machine learning models, including performance metrics, dataset quality, edge-case analysis, regression evaluation, and model behavior validation in safety-critical systems
