Disability Case Coordinator I

About The Role
Utilizing specialized knowledge and experience to determine fitness to perform and accommodation needs as an integral member of the Health Services Department, the Disability Case Coordinator I employs the principles of disability management to actively manage and ensure all disabled employees are provided with appropriate job placements to effect early and safe return to work, reducing time loss and improving productivity.
Duties
- Managing actively employees’ absence from the workplace, due to non-complex illness or injury
- Managing the non-complex return to work process for occupational and non-occupational cases, advising management and union on appropriate job placement
- Remaining proactive to ensure the Hospital meets legislative requirements in the interest of a safe and healthy work environment
- Performing communication and administrative responsibilities
- Performing cross-functional duties, as assigned or requested
- Performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned by the Manager Disability Case Management.
- Completion of or actively enrolled in attaining credentials in the field of Disability Management and/or Occupational Health and Safety
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in complex disability management, return to work planning, WSIB injury/illness claims, unionized environments, supporting multiple stakeholders
- Completion or in pursuit of CDMP designation
- Understanding of principles of the duty to accommodate, health and safety legislation, HOODIP
