About The Role
Summary
Rodeo FX is looking for a Head of Technology Resource Management (TRM) to bring data-driven discipline to our global technology infrastructure across all affiliated studios.
In this role, you will lead capacity planning, workload optimization, and resource forecasting across the group's compute, storage, network, and archival environments. You will ensure that our artists across all affiliated studios have the high-performance technology required to deliver award-winning visuals efficiently, while balancing production demands, infrastructure availability, performance, and cost.
You will work closely with Systems, Pipeline, Production, Finance, and Technology leadership across the organization to anticipate infrastructure needs, optimize resource allocation, and align technology investments with production and business priorities.
Main responsibilities
Capacity Planning & Forecasting
- Establish forecasting models for compute, high-performance storage, network bandwidth, and long-term archival capacity across all affiliated studios active productions.
- Forecast infrastructure requirements based on production schedules, workloads, project complexity, and business priorities.
- Identify upcoming capacity constraints and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
- Establish global standards and processes for technology capacity planning.
Infrastructure Resource Optimization
- Develop and manage the capacity allocation strategy across on-premises infrastructure and cloud resources, balancing availability, performance, cost, and production requirements.
- Monitor infrastructure utilization and throughput to identify bottlenecks and optimize compute, storage, and network performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure efficiency while maintaining production requirements and service levels.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Systems, Pipeline, Production, Finance, and Technology leadership across affiliated studios to align infrastructure capacity and investments with production needs and business priorities.
- Translate production requirements and technology roadmaps into infrastructure capacity , resource, and cost requirements. 
- Provide stakeholders with clear visibility into infrastructure utilization, technology costs, and financial impact, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
- Advise on infrastructure investments, cloud utilization, and resource allocation, balancing cost, performance, capacity, and production requirements.
Data, Monitoring & Reporting
- Enhance automated dashboards providing leadership with visibility into infrastructure utilization, capacity, performance, and forecasted demand.
- Establish KPIs and benchmarks for compute, storage, network, and archival utilization.
- Leverage operational and financial data to support capacity, investment, and resource allocation decisions.
- Continuously improve forecasting models, reporting, and resource management processes.
- Bilingual (French English)
- 8+ years of technical leadership experience in VFX/animation resource management, systems architecture, infrastructure, or render farm management.
- Deep technical expertise in enterprise compute architecture, high-performance storage, render management, and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of render managers such as Tractor and Deadline, and cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Advanced quantitative and financial analysis skills, with experience in capacity modeling, forecasting, and technology budgeting.
- Proven ability to optimize infrastructure performance, utilization, and cost at scale.
- Strong understanding of VFX production environments and the infrastructure requirements of complex, high-volume productions.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven track record of aligning Production Management, Systems, Technology, Finance, and Executive leadership.
- Experience in a large-scale VFX or animation studio environment is strongly preferred.
- Full-time, Permanent Contract;

The person in this role will work closely with our teams in Toronto, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Paris, and will regularly collaborate across both English- and French-speaking environments. As a result, professional fluency in both English and French is required. They will also communicate with clients worldwide to showcase Rodeo FX’s technical and creative capabilities.
