Heavy industry is transitioning towards a fossil-free future, creating significant value in terms of economic growth, technological innovation, and environmental sustainability. As a key contributor to the development of society in northern Sweden, where some of the most important industrial investments are taking place, we are now looking for the right person to take on the important role of Lead Planner in one of our complex projects.
 
The Role of Lead Planner
As a Lead Planner , you will be at the centre of the project's planning activities. You will support the project and site management teams in developing clear and realistic construction schedules that ensure strong progress, high quality, and efficient use of resources.
You will be responsible for coordinating project schedules, monitoring deviations, and driving the planning process in close collaboration with production, procurement, project management, and other specialist functions.
This is a role where you will have a genuine opportunity to influence both project outcomes and the future development of our planning practices.
You will report to the Head of Planning and be part of the Project Planning team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and structure the project's planning process.
- Develop, maintain, and update project schedules and construction plans in accordance with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
- Coordinate planning activities across contracts, construction operations, procurement, and deliveries.
- Report project status and communicate schedule progress to stakeholders.
- Identify deviations and ensure schedules are updated to reflect changes.
- Document delays and disruptions, and support the project with analysis and forecasting.
- Contribute to cost monitoring and resource planning.
- Provide recommendations for improvement and participate in the development of working methods, tools, and systems support.
 
Your Profile
We are looking for someone with experience in leading and driving planning activities in complex environments, preferably within large-scale construction and/or infrastructure projects. You understand how project scheduling impacts project finances, resource planning, procurement, design, and construction activities.
You possess strong analytical skills and are able to translate detailed information into well-founded decisions that support the organization's overall objectives. At the same time, you have the ability to maintain a holistic perspective, identify interdependencies, and anticipate the consequences of different courses of action.
You are an effective communicator who can engage others in the planning process, foster alignment across different functions, and convey complex information in a clear and pedagogical manner.
To succeed in this role, we believe you have
- Experience working with project planning and scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 or ASTA Powerproject .
- A higher education qualification in a technical discipline and at least five years of experience in project planning .
- Proven experience managing large and complex projects . Experience within the construction industry and construction delivery is considered advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, which is essential for successful collaboration and project delivery.
- Experience using planning and scheduling tools, combined with a solid understanding of construction and production workflows.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Swedish and English .
 
Location
This position is based in Luleå . Candidates residing elsewhere are also welcome to apply, provided they can be present in Luleå for at least 50-70% of their working time , which is considered essential for success in the role.
The remaining time can preferably be spent at a location where NCC has offices and/or where there are good travel connections to Luleå, such as Stockholm, Uppsala, Piteå, Boden, Skellefteå , and other suitable locations.
