JOB SUMMARY
The Store Operations Reporting Analyst supports the retail store organization by delivering operational reporting, analyzing business performance, and providing insights that support effective operational decision-making. Under general supervision, this role independently prepares and evaluates recurring and ad hoc analyses across store sales, labor, inventory, shrink, customer service, operating expenses, and other key retail performance measures.
The Analyst exercises independent judgment in evaluating data, identifying trends and performance variances, investigating reporting and data-quality issues, and determining appropriate approaches to routine and moderately complex analytical requests. The position interprets established business requirements and reporting standards while identifying opportunities to improve reporting, processes, and data integrity.
This position partners with Store Operations, field leadership, and cross-functional teams to translate operational data into meaningful insights, support business initiatives, and provide reporting and analysis that enables informed decisions. The Analyst independently manages assigned reporting responsibilities and projects, escalating complex or significant issues to leadership as appropriate.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Independently prepare, analyze, and distribute recurring and ad hoc operational reports and analyses across store sales, labor, inventory, shrink, customer service, operating expenses, and other key retail performance measures.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain dashboards, scorecards, trackers, and other reporting tools that improve visibility into store and field performance.
- Respond to reporting and analytical requests from Store Operations and field leadership, exercising judgment in determining the appropriate level of analysis and information required.
- Analyze operational performance to identify trends, variances, exceptions, and potential areas of concern or opportunity; summarize findings and provide insights to Store Operations leadership.
- Analyze performance against budget, forecast, prior year, prior period, and established business targets; identify significant variances and provide supporting analysis and commentary.
- Provide analytical support for operational initiatives, pilots, promotions, and process improvements by establishing appropriate measures, analyzing results, identifying trends, and summarizing findings.
- Partner with Store Operations, field leadership, and cross-functional teams to understand reporting and analytical needs and translate business questions into meaningful analyses and reporting solutions.
- Communicate analytical findings through reports, dashboards, presentations, and written summaries tailored to the intended audience.
- Exercise independent judgment in researching data discrepancies, evaluating potential causes, determining appropriate resolutions, and escalating complex or significant issues when necessary.
- Evaluate reporting requests and determine appropriate data sources, analytical approaches, and presentation methods based on business needs and established reporting standards.
- Perform testing, validation, and quality assurance for new or modified reports, dashboards, data sources, and system enhancements; identify issues and coordinate resolution with appropriate partners.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting processes, data quality, efficiency, and consistency; recommend and implement enhancements within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain reporting procedures, metric definitions, documentation, and standard operating processes to promote consistent and reliable reporting practices.
- Manage assigned reporting responsibilities and analytical projects with limited day-to-day direction, prioritizing work to meet established deadlines and business needs.
- Protect confidential Team Member, customer, financial, and company information in accordance with company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Finance, Economics, Analytics, Operations, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Two to four years of experience in retail operations, business analytics, reporting, finance, business intelligence, or a related analytical field.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, charts, data manipulation, and analysis of large data sets.
- Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills with demonstrated attention to accuracy and data integrity.
- Demonstrated ability to independently analyze operational or financial data, identify trends and variances, investigate discrepancies, and develop meaningful conclusions.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment in determining appropriate analytical approaches and resolving routine to moderately complex reporting and data issues.
- Ability to manage multiple reporting responsibilities, analytical requests, and project deadlines with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize analytical findings and communicate information effectively to business partners and leadership.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners and translate business questions into reporting and analytical requirements.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting retail operations or another multi-location business environment.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, Looker, or another business intelligence and visualization platform.
- Working knowledge of SQL or experience querying structured data sources.
- Experience with point-of-sale, inventory, workforce-management, financial, or store task-management systems.
- Working knowledge of retail performance measures, including sales, transactions, average transaction value, units per transaction, labor productivity, inventory variance, shrink, and operating expenses.
- Experience developing or enhancing dashboards, scorecards, recurring reporting, or analytical tools.
